I have a question, hoping to hear from somebody that was a transfer student at MSU.
I went to community college for 2 years with a 3.8 GPA and currently attend CMU with a 3.45 GPA. I applied to MSU's FALL semester in August and they have had my current semester transcripts since the middle of December.
I called today and they said that they are just now beginning to look at SUMMER semester applicants and they won't begin looking at Fall until after they have finished. They said I may not have an answer until March or April.
I would like to know how long it really takes.
I feel like this is RIDICULOUS. How am I suppose to set up financial aid, sign on an apartment, or make any plans if I dont know until this time?

I'm very frustrated. Thanks.

Spring and summer is when all students find out about their financial aid and look for apartments for Fall 2012.

That’s not true. Most people I know of lock them in Fall/early winter to make sure they have decent apartments.

With that said, there will be some available- but it will be much more difficult.

Will it really be as late as April for an acceptance?

Yeah all you can do is wait. Hopefully you will hear back before April but there are no guarantees…unfortunately fall transfers have 2nd priority during this time of year. You might want to check out older CC threads on transfers, they might indicate when people start hearing back from MSU. Your stats look great though - I’d say you are a shoo-in. Don’t worry too much about housing, while options do become slightly more limited as time goes on the MSU area has TONS of housing. Once you are a student definitely check out allmsu (.com) classifieds as they always have a zillion housing posts for people looking for subleasers - especially useful for those who have late admits to MSU. Good luck!
