So guys, I've eliminated a few other acceptances and I am down to the last two.

Factors: Absolutely none. Money, Location etc. doesn't matter at all... I wanna choose a university where the chances of me succeeding are very high...(Good research personnel, great prof's, internship availability etc..). Please feel free to post your opinion. Thanks in advance :)

Why in the world wouldn’t those matter ? These are the most important factors when deciding between colleges that are in the same level.

You need to post more info.
Your major ? Your home state ? Cost of attendance for both ?

What kind of question is this ? The chances of succeeding depends on you, not on the University.

@Xtreme Power : Well, I’ve got scholarships from both universities, and MSU should cost around $40k at max, and Iowa maybe $34k-35k. My dad earns more than $150k a year, so that shouldn’t be a problem. Its not like I don’t WANT to consider money, its just that I don’t want it to influence my decision in attending a good college. I’m a Chemical engineering major and an international student.

“What kind of question is this ? I know that both these schools are respectable enough, but I just wanted an honest comparison.

University of Iowa for chemical engineering ? lol Why didn’t you apply to Iowa State ? Its better for engineering and cheaper.

I think you are forced to attend MSU.
“I’ve eliminated a few other acceptances”

What were they ?

@Xtreme Power

ASU
University of Nebraska Lincoln
Texas Tech
San Jose State University
Florida Tech

Between Iowa and MSU for Chem E. I would think they are a toss-up. They have equal rankings for the University as a whole and their engineering programs appear to be abotu equal too. Just a choice of where you’d rather be.

What does your dad say about this? Is he happy handing over more than one-fifth of his income every year for the next four or five years?

As an international student, you also need to know if employers in your home country care about which place you graduate from in the US. If they do, then that is the university you should attend.

Contact the engineering departments at both schools and find out what the deal is with departmental scholarship. Ask questions like: What percent of kids in the department receive them? Am i eligable for them being an international student? What is the range for the award amounts?.. Ect.
