MT Acceptances for 2022 - by College

Hi! I just got waitlisted for BFA MT at UW Stevens Point. Do any of you have experiences with waitlists and what the chances are of being accepted? Like, say they have one or two openings after people decline their offers, how do they select who does and doesn’t come off the waitlist? Also, what information does anyone have on the MT program at UWSP? I know there’s been a lot of alum success from that program, but I’ve heard both good and bad things about the school/program. Some people say they love it, others say they had really bad experiences. Any advice would be much appreciated!

Congrats on even making the wait list at UWSP. They have a well respected program, and a really nice arts building compared to some others we have seen. When we met with the MT program director, he did say that they will go to their wait list if not all of their offers are taken…depends. And a few kids usually say no so hang in there. Maybe drop him a message letting him know you remain interested.

@futurestarmom , my D auditioned for Missouri State Feb 23, and got a “no” a week or so later. So if you haven’t heard, I am guessing your child is still being considered. My D LOVED that program, and it was her hardest “no.” Good luck!

@juleselizabeth, my D also got notified of a waitlist for UWSP last week; and I believe she is about to commit elsewhere, so there will be one less on the waitlist.

My D also got a letter from UWSP last week. The wording was a bit strange. It said she was in the priority alternate pool. Obviously waitlist, but is priority alternate different somehow? Is this also what your letters said? Also, D auditioned for Hartt at Chicago Unifieds and still nothing from them. We are down the three to hear from. Ithaca, Hartt and Western Mich!

@onewaytobroadway, hers said the same. My interpretation is that is what they call their waitlist. By the way, UWSP has been in the news lately because they are eliminating a bunch of majors in the humanities. (Theatre department does not appear to be affected.)

@catznpigz I did see that story and it is a bit concerning, even if theater isn’t currently affected, you wonder if will be next on the chopping block. We are almost ready to commit elsewhere. Just waiting on the financial package to be announced.

@mygirlsxs2 my D auditioned at the University of Florida. She was rejected via snail mail last week. I believe they called their accepted students a few weeks ago.

Carefully copy and paste the list AND these instructions. Add your name/info (in alphabetical order) under each school he/she was accepted so that is appears in red.

To color it red, copy the code as it is below, add in your information, then REMOVE THE SPACE IN THE FIRST BRACKET BEFORE THE WORD “COLOR”: [ color=red] Name, D or S, home state [/color]. Do this in the list; NOT in the instructions.

@fairlyoddmom I know absolutely nothing about the program but we did tour the campus a bit last year while visiting Savannah. The campus is in a very cool, artsy hip part of town and the buildings are absolutely breathtaking and the students leading the tours were kind and knowledgeable (and from all over if that’s a concern; neither of my first 2 would apply to any schools in the south). I hope someone on here can fill you in on the program!
