<p>Emerson is in her top four, so she is soooo excited! It will make the rest of the process much easier because if worse came to worse, and she didn't get in CMU or NYU and (or course) not into Juilliard (the most likely result), she is so happy with Emerson. :) If she gets NYU, I don't know which she will chose......</p>

<p>Thanks! She said just that too... and is heading off today to another audition for a play and then working with her coach to get ready for unifieds.... ha ha!</p>
<p>Thanks, soozievt!!- It has been her top choice since junior high school! However, she was one of those kids who was "on the bubble' academically so we thought it was her best shot to try it ED (plus your posts and NotMamaRose's about your own kids just confirmed it would be awesome). Being at CAP21 this summer was wonderful preparation to assure she would love living in NYC. She did do the MT audition but will be insanely happy at any studio. We will let you know so her results can be moved to the proper thread. (And we were so paranoid she applied to ten schools so we have many auditions and apps to cancel, but will be cheerfully doing that over winter break.) A happy, happy kid in Illinois who has worked so hard--am very proud of her. Thanks to all who post here--it kept me sane and I learned a ton. We feel very lucky and humbled right now.</p>
<p>CCsmom- if you don't mind, could you maybe share what your daughter's academics were in the general area? I'm a junior thinking of applying ED next year to NYU and I too feel as if I'm on the bubble academically. Thanks!</p>

<p>I congratulate every one of you. Last audition year at this time my D was a month away from her first audition. that you are sitting here before Xmas with an acceptance just is amazing.</p>
<p>On the bubble academically... Would ccsmom like to elaborate on this? I'd love to know your child's stats -- and they got accepted I won't judge you! It would just be interesting to know. I know of someone also who believes to be on the academic bubble, but that bubble might be different to everyone.</p>
<p>chrissyblu: I received a call from Scott Weiss, the Performing Arts Director last wednesday. I recieved my official letter yesterday.</p>

<p>NYQ12 - I am not sure that anyone will actually post full details of their child's stats on this forum (may be through PM), but for whatever it is worth, my D is probably a text book example of someone, who by NYU standards had below average GPA and SAT scores, but because of NYU's holistic approach of analyzing the applications, was accepted nonetheless. </p>
<p>I want to note however, that she did take challenging courses at a rigorous prep HS (including 3 AP classes), had a solid extra-curricular resume filled with leadership and community service activities, spent a lot of time writing what turned out to be great essays, and was well prepared at her audition. At the same time, she knew that her low stats decreased her chances; she came up with a diverse list and applied to 12 schools. NYU however was her dream school, and needless to say last Christmas was the "best Christmas ever" in our household. </p>
<p>At this point, I am a firm believer that, as long as you don't have a GPA below 3.0 and SAT scores below 1000 (excl. CR), no one should discourage you from applying to Tisch. Of course this does not automatically mean that "you are in", but don't let anyone tell you that "only people with 3.5 and higher get accepted". It will go without saying that you do increase your odds dramatically :D.</p>
