momarino! So glad we’re not the only ones - yes she is the same with the private voice and such. In fact she was just cast as Grizabella in Cats! Like MTMajorCook says they end up where they are meant to be. But the waiting was killing us (parents not her) and so glad to get just one. Like they also say you only need one! We’re going to unifieds too - but after having to cancel CCM this weekend because I didn’t want to fly into ice - I’m praying to the Gods that first week of Feb - we can get to Chicago!

Ingramt’s D: So excited for you guys!!! Boy weren’t our lives more relaxing from yesterday through today. Celebration weekend! Yay!

goingplacesmomsD: I suspect we are practically neighbors and yesterday I was just as excited for your daughter as mine. I have been stalking this board for a year and the wealth of information has been both invaluable and, as you mentioned, panic inducing! Knowing that she has a place to go no matter how the rest of the auditions go brought a calm I haven’t felt in months! I’m hoping all the other amazingly helpful people on this board can say the same very soon! Looking forward to seeing our girls together on stage in CATS soon! Daughter auditioned at Catholic U yesterday. We were very impressed and I would tell anyone who hasn’t looked into the program seriously to do so. An added bonus is that you get notification within a week.

Ingramt!!! Oh MY!!! I’ll need to get some more posts on here so I can send you a private message (I think 15…is the minimum!hah)
I bet my daughter knows who - she had said there was another girl she knew at Uarts auditioning when she was there - and I saw a pic in her facebook with a young lady - so maybe that’s her!
This is so exciting - I saw another young lady post that she didn’t get called back and she was from no va. I was worried that was you guys… I will look into Catholic - I had thought about it before - but she was insisting she didn’t want to add another - but it’s so close of course! U do have to apply first to the school, right? I think her counselor hates us…hahahaah

LOL @ Marbleheader! As long as I get to sing the low notes!
These acceptances are so exciting!!! It just got REAL!!

GoingplacesmomsD, don’t sell yourself (or your daughter) short. It’s a sad statement about the process when you qualify getting into UArts with a huge scholarship with she statement “while it may not be the most competitive school out there…” Um, what, they accept like 5% instead of CMU’s 0.5%? Lol. Getting into ANY audition school is soooo difficult and needs no qualifications. Big congrats to your daughter!!! We were in your exact shoes this time last year and though my daughter didn’t choose UArts, I thought it was a great school run by classy people. I loved their prescreen policy, their audition day was well run, they were accessible at Unifieds, they didn’t charge my daughter an application fee after she told them that her cousin had gone to UArts (for graphic arts) even though we didn’t ask for that or have any idea they ever did that. The campus is in a great neighborhood and loved the dorms, and they were the ONLY school that sent my daughter a nice good luck letter after she turned them down. I will also always love them for being her first acceptance last fall which made the rest of the audition season so much less stressful!

GoingplacesmomsD ---- way to go! U of Arts IS COMPETITIVE…most all of these auditioned BFA programs are - with acceptance rates between 2 - 5%. They were also one of my son’s first acceptances last season and it was so nice to get that yes in the mail. CONGRATS CONGRATS. More good news is no doubt on the way!

Dear dear Calliene and mcpcwhite!!!
Thank you SOOO much for saying these things. Like I said, my husband and I have been perusing these boards for the past couple of months, and see that folks like yourselves have really “been through it” and I kinda had your screen names “memorized” ahahahah!
To hear you say this about U of Arts, and of course to get that ONE “auditioned BFA for MT” acceptance already is huge around here. We were impressed with the school, and I think it would make a great transition for a suburbia girl into a “not as scary as NY” city, in order to prepare for the future.
We are so very excited, because we (parents…not her,) were so afraid based on all we read that she would not be able to compete (though she is great just like all of our talented young people,) due to the lack of specified coach (though her academy director is coaching her, and they do have professional classes such as resume etc -but she tends to ignore and do what she wants…) and no summer theatre school other than Governor school for voice. We had thought she would be at least a competitor but it was all this reading that was starting to give me a pit in my stomach.

Like Calliene says - I will be forever grateful to U of the Arts not only for being her first but for selecting her and validating that she can compete. She saw at least 1/2 the kids on her audition day did not get called back in the afternoon. So to get this big ole package so soon. What a relief.

Thank you for your thoughts - and we’ll do our best moving into Rider next week, BOCO in Jan., and all the rest in Feb. (mostly at Unifieds.) Argghhhh this is so fatiguing, but now with a celebration, as we wait till end of March… Best regards!

MichaelNKat - thanks for your message. I can’t send a private one because I’m too new on this site. And understood - will reach out accordingly when the time comes a little closer for decisions…Thanks again!

Carefully copy and paste the list AND the instructions. Add your info so that is appears in red. To use red, you would post it like this BUT YOU CANNOT HAVE ANY OF THE SPACES INSIDE THE BRACKETS SO REMOVE THEM:

Finally got it! LOL CONGRATS

goingplacesmomsD- We feel what you’re feeling. Our D’s first two responses to prescreens were NO, so we spent a lot of time second guessing the song choices, etc. When we got a YES yesterday from Coastal Carolina it was like a weight had been lifted. Like you said, it felt like a validation of her talent and her efforts.

The cherry on top was when our son brought home an A on his AP algebra test yesterday. It was a great day!

Ooooooh! This thread is starting to be exciting! Congrats to all the accepted students and their parents!

cheeseheadmike - congrats! Those prescreen “yeses” always bring a smile.

Congrats to ingramt’s D!!! DC is an AWESOME city and I like the location of Catholic University. Easy Metro ride to downtown, The Mall and any other great place near a subway station since Catholic University has a stop on the Red Line!

GSOMT Mom: Thanks so much! We were lucky to stack some quick response auditions at the front! Can’t wait to see the good news keep coming for everyone!!!
And thanks to MTMajorCook for adding the red. I’m so clueless!

cheeseheadmike…congrats to your D for the invite to audition at Coastal. Its a great program and the audition day is wonderful. And if you’re at the audition date during the Into the Woods run, make sure you don’t miss it!

Thanks a bunch. We are already in love with CCU and we haven’t even visited yet. The news about CCU yesterday made us so happy that we aren’t at all disappointed by Pace’s NO from today. Not in the least.

Our D played Rapunzel at the local community college’s summer stock program of Into the Woods last year. The show is a hoot!

Best of luck to all, break a leg, and happy holidays. Try to relax, eh?

Congratulations ingramt and D!!
