I would point out (again- b/c I one it has come up before) that it would be easier to have school specific conversation if there were indicators on the schools at the top of the page. I can completely understand why the NYU specific conversation would become less interesting (while agreeing with the desire to add information as well) it happens with other schools as well. The finer points of ANY individual admission process might or might not be interesting to the group at large…
I have asked the forum administrators if this issue can be fixed several times in the past year or so. This all got changed (for the worse) when CC went to a new server format. Many times when I asked, I was told they were aware and working on it. I asked again fairly recently since it hasn’t been addressed. An administrator told me this a few days ago (just so you know):
Perhaps when a topic meant to be inclusive for all schools takes a turn and becomes fixated on one school–the last five pages are the most part exclusively about NYU, the moderator might consider moving the posts to create a separate page. Just asking.
^^exactly!!
(Can NYU just have its own FORUM?)
@CTownMom, thank you. I have found a way to split the posts on the NYU Tisch and Steinhardt numbers on this thread from the past week to its own topic thread. Here is a link to that thread with the posts taken from this thread. Anyone can feel free to continue that discussion there.

@theaterwork Yes, you are correct. We ended up doing 9 auditions. She ended up getting into her two top schools, so we are relieved. Most of all start early with her audition materials and pay close attention to deadlines (which come up quickly). If possible go to a unified audition that can be scheduled through the school once admitted to the school. You can also sometimes do walk in auditions to some colleges at unifieds. Do your research. Looks like you are.
So FSU took 3 females in 2014?? Anyone know the number for 2015??
The yield for Utah was larger. About 30 kids, equally divided, I believe.
Penn State for class of 2019 has 7 girls and 4 boys, taken from a pic on facebook.
Joyfulmama-
Those FSU 2014 numbers are enrolled students; we accepted more than that, although I can’t recall offhand how many girls there were.
For 2015 we accepted 7 men and 8 women. Out of those fifteen, 5 men and 6 women enrolled so our freshman class has a total of 11 students this year.

Michele, @All4FSU , is that for the BFA or the BM? Or both combined? Thanks
@Notmath1: That is both combined. We really consider it all one program in which the students admitted can choose whether they want to pursue a BFA or a BM. (They can, and do switch from one to the other during the first year once they get here and develop a better understanding of their goals/strengths/weaknesses.)
@All4FSU Thank you so much! I am learning that we cannot discount large schools simply bc they are large, we really have to look at the numbers enrolled in the program. I am also so happy to hear that you allow such integration and swapping from one program to the other so easily! I guess a FSU visit is in order!! It’s great also to have someone to get accurate info from!
Last year Texas State had a class of 14 for its 2019 MT class. 7 men and 7 women.
Wow for Rider it says a class size of 49? That is huge, is that a correct number for the MT program?
@sbc BoCo is one of the top BFA MT programs in the country and they have an average freshman class size of 60+ !!
Wow. Although BoCo is a Conservatory so makes a bit more sense to me. I just assumed that Riders program would be in that 12-30 size due to it being a BFA program in a college and not part of a conservatory and a newer program.
@sbc I’m researching all the numbers for you!
Thank you.
@sbc and others: I just confirmed CORRECT class size numbers at Rider with a high level Rider MT prof. My son is senior MT at Rider and his class of 2016 is 26 students. The other classes are between 30-32 students. The current sophomore class was larger – two transferred to other MT programs, others left for financial and personal reasons, or b/c they wanted straight theatre programs. Also, for reference, dance classes at Rider are leveled and there are 14 voice teachers, so lots of professors and sections. Feel free to PM me with other questions re: Rider MT.
