Hello I’m currently a junior in HS and am looking primarily at MT colleges on the East Coast- preferably NYC. After doing a lot of research, Pace University seems to be my top choice. Is anyone on here a grad of Pace, or currently attending? I would LOVE some inside information about ANYTHING having to do with MT at Pace. I have tried to look for a thread on CC that talks about Pace specifically, but I’ve yet to find it. If there is one, I’d appreciate it if someone could re-direct me to it. Or even if someone isn’t a grad/attending… if you have info on Pace, I would love it how was the audition process, did you enjoy being right in NYC, how was the education, how were the professors, what was the general atmosphere, stuff like that!

FYI, generally my requirements for a college are something like a medium sized school that’s not a focused performing arts school, (i.e. AMDA would not fit into my preferences) and is in the city… among other smaller things. Thx for any info!

Hello! Welcome to CC. There are tons of threads/subforums on the site that will give you information about, literally, about a hundred different MT programs. As you are looking at Pace specifically, I would search through this subforum:

I’m currently a senior MT at Pace and would love to help you out! Post them to the thread that AlexaMT posted above, and I will answer any and all of them to the best of my ability.

Alexa MT- thank you very much! I have been exploring that thread!

And thank you, BRbway! I have posted in that thread with some Q’s. I am very excited to have found an MT student at Pace who is willing to talk about the program- thank you!

You should audition for Arts Edge summer program. The dept chair for MT at Pace, is in that program. Amy Rogers, assigns the audition songs and teaches the audition techniques class. Kids either love or hate her. For some kids she came up with fabulous songs and really helped them to have great auditions. For others she just did not get them and chose songs they did not like and could not perform well. It is a great audition prep program with lots of wondeful faculty and you will get to see if you can work with Amy or not

I second sondheimmom’s advice. HOWEVER, I would only recommend doing so if you were going to do a summer program anyway. It’s a lot of money to spend just to see if you like a program director!

Although D found ArtsBridge (the new name of Arts Edge) to be of somewhat limited value overall, she absolutely ADORED Amy Rogers and after working with her, Pace rose to the top of her list.

Others didn’t have the same experience, so it would be a great way to see if you click with her.
