My D is interested in UArts. Aside from the lack of campus, what should we know about the program?

This is a wonderful top-tier program that offers a balanced program for MT with good training in Acting, voice, and dance. Charlie Gilbert, who heads the program is both a consumate professional and teacher. He is relentless in striving to improve what (in my most humble opinion) is one of the very best programs in the country. Have you checked out their website, and/or the U of Arts thread at the top of the music theater forum? I think you will find additional good info their.

"There" not "Their" - still a very good choice!

Definitely check out the UArts forum at the top of the MT Forum. You may wish to contact the poster, BroadwayWannabe (or her mom, NYTheaterMom) as she is going to be starting the BFA program in MT at UArts this fall and they know a great deal about the school.

Also, the Broadwayworld.com Web site's regional area for Baltimore offers a really interesting and fun interview with Kati Lyles, a recent UArts grad (she just graduated in June, I believe) who starred as Louise in the Maryland Arts Festival's production of Gypsy, and in the interview, Miss Lyles talks a great deal about her training and the program at UArts. She absolutely adored the program and talked about all the opportunities she had and the fabulous professors she studied with. It's worth a look. If anyone is interested and can't find it, I can try to scratch around and get a link.

I haven't been posting much lately -- nor I confess reading the forum -- but anyone looking at Uarts, feel free to email me (as opposed to PM). I would anticipate once school starts writing some specifics probably on the Uarts thread.
