MT Class Sizes

@SuddenlySeeMore, I left it blank hoping someone would know the MT-only size.

Updating NYU-Tisch with 2022 as a guesstimate for 2023.

Random comment - I don’t think Northwestern is accurate for this list as the freshman don’t get admitted to the MT certificate program - not sure how you’d like to address that in this list.

@CaMom13 I’m not sure if you want this updated on the list or not. For Molloy/CAP21, last year’s class was 48. The 2018 freshman class was 35. Just posted on the Molloy/CAP21 thread by @rickle1 that they stated that they’re targeting 32-36 per the recent online event for accepted students. Sounds like the normal target will be in that range.

@speezagmom - it’s not my list! I say update anything you think would be helpful for this year’s class and beyond. I think this is just crowd-sourcing the latest possible class size info because the old thread on class size are… old, lol.

Hello! My name is Wren (they/them) and I am a current third year at Ball State University for Musical Theatre as well as the Assistant Audition Coordinator. Though we traditionally split things up by male and female, the school has grown immensely and is open to those of all genders. If anyone as any questions about this, please reach out!

Anybody know the class size for Arizona State’s BM in MT? Or anything about how many people they waitlist? I am currently on their waitlist and it is my top choice!

@beepbeeplettuce6 They have a very small class size I believe. Maybe 8 students? Really small like Otterbein.

@NeensMom Do you have an idea of how may people they waitlist? Or is it hard to tell? I am planning on committing to ASU for the money they have given me and if I do not get off the waitlist I will enter as a Music Audition student and I can once again try out for the program. I’m just wondering if its a lost cause at this point. :frowning:

Sorry @beepbeeplettuce6 I don’t have any info on their WL. But if you have been assigned an admissions counselor they may be able to answer WL questions for you!

@7Heartsong3 That seems really, really low for MMC.

Last year, at this time, the MMC BFA MT class size was estimated at 59 I believe. Is there a change underway at MMC or did I misinterpret what the 59 represented?

At the MMC information session during auditions, I believe they said they were aiming for an MT class of 50.

@MTMom2024 that may be true. My S auditioned via video submission. I updated that figure based on information from one of the 8 girls who just finished freshman year MT at MMC. Her class (2023) is 8 girls and 8 boys.

Maybe the discrepancy in numbers for Marymount Manhattan is whether counting just MT students or all the BFA students.

The Freshman class at University of the Arts is 60F/35M but that includes the entire Ira Brind School of Theater Arts, not just MT. Being ever inclusive as they are, the admissions counselor noted that she did not know the gender identities of all the students.
