Mt. Holyoke "Disses" Smith on Facebook

Not sure what to make of this...it's causing quite a stir on Facebook.

I don't think it's that big of a deal, but a little surprised the school would do this on an official page. What do you think?

I think they should put down the poor women who have to go to Amherst.

For those of you who haven’t taken the trouble to read the Terms of Service you agreed to when you signed up on CC, here is the relevant section that has been here a long time:

“Links to Forums, Blogs, Social Network Pages, Photos, Videos, and Personal Sites. Please do not post links to other discussion forums, blogs, personal sites, or other non-authoritative sources. This includes Facebook, Myspace, and similar sites. In order to fulfill our mission of being the best college discussion forum, we want important topics to be discussed here at College Confidential. Linking to discussions elsewhere defeats this purpose. Links to non-authoritative sites like blogs, personal sites, etc., can’t be researched for validity on an individual basis and hence are not allowed. All such links will be removed.”

CrewDad, we take links down when we see them. Believe it or not, volunteer moderators can’t be all places at all times.

What was said? I searched fb and couldn’t even find them.

I can’t find it either. Mini, you are kidding, right? :)

Hmm, it seems to me you and your fellow mods are doing a darn good job of being omnipresent.
I’m sure the Vassar oversight was an aberration. :)

“Mini, you are kidding, right?”

Oh, I never kid. And I really do pity those poor women at Amherst who have to settle for a decidedly inferior education.

Smith seems to enforce its own rules assiduously, to a much greater extent than some other schools I’ve seen. Is there a parallel here? I wonder if Smith has had a role in the development of mainelonghorn’s attitude toward authority.

Somebody should have noted that we Smithies were dissing Mount Holyoke right back…
