I adore the concept MT, but I’m not so sure about whether I want to major or minor in it… And after reading through the audition process, I’m dreading it… It truly sounds overwhelming.

Does anyone here (or their daughter) take MT as a minor? If so, how easy/hard is it for you to balance your major’s studies and your MT studies? I’d also like to know how well-rounded your amount of education is as opposed to the full-blown major version (do you learn just as much as the MT majors, or less?).

If you go to UArts website and click on "Course Catalogue" at the top menu bar/ then click on "Majors and Minors" on the menu on the left, you will get a list of all majors and minors, including Musical Theater. The list is a series of hyperlinks that will give you the course requirements for each program of study including MT as a major and as a minor. The minor curriculum varies depending on what your major is and therefore what additional course you need to fill out the training. Even for acting majors where there is great overlap of the acting major curriculum with the acting component of the MT curriculum, however, the amount of MT specific classes is much more limited for the minor than for the major.
