Penn State – Decisions: they have a team “decision Sunday” in mid-March with acceptance notifications going out that week (via ?). Rejection for MT program came via snail mail dated 4 days after NY Unifieds audition. The decision meeting has been the day after the last on campus audition in years past. Decisions are sent to the Admissions office the Monday after the decision meeting and Admissions sends out snail mail acceptances on Tuesday. The 12 to 14 accepted will usually receive them by the end of that week. Of course, this is not written in stone and I have no inside info - just going by what has happened the last 4 years.

Carefully copy and paste the list AND the instructions. Add your info so that is appears in red. To use red, you would post it like this BUT YOU CANNOT HAVE ANY OF THE SPACES INSIDE THE BRACKETS SO REMOVE THEM:

Any info on Marymount Manhattan? I understand that they started doing admissions on a rolling basis this year so the process is a bit different - I got my academic acceptance in October, but I auditioned on campus Feb 1 and am wondering when I’ll hear back from the theatre department, if anyone knows. Thanks!

Last year Syracuse went through 4 waves and were sending acceptances and rejection the week of April 8th and Webster did both the last week of March

I called Marymount this afternoon- they are sending all decisions (yay and nay) via snail mail. They told me the first batch was being sent out today!

My wife just called and said that there was a notice of registered mail in our box addressed to our D. Unfortunately, the letter is still out with the driver so we can’t get it until 9:00 tomorrow.

Anybody else get certified mail, and from where? Pins and needles yet again…

It may be the official acceptance of the verbal one from Unifieds, Mike. Now I’m on pins and needles with your family! UGH!

I can’t imagine that it could be anything but good news for your D! Fingers crossed for you!!

Trying to figure out Montclair’s notification system. Anyone have an idea?

How about UArts?

She’s not on the IRS’s radar screen yet, so it’s gotta be good news. I’ll let you know tomorrow!

Good luck to everyone while we all wait together.

Stay safe in the crazy weather. For once the weather here in southern WI is calm and quiet.

Montclair’s is rolling. Some have already been admitted. Last year my D auditioned at NYC Unifieds and got her acceptance letter about 3 weeks later, via snail mail.

UArts last year also was rolling and pretty much the same scenario. Got the acceptance about 3 weeks after her audition via snail mail.

Certified mail, sheesh! What are they trying to do, kill the parents with the suspense?!

I have never heard of a school using certified mail to notify about acceptances. Anything’s possible, but most are using online email links or plain old mail. But certified? That’s very unusual.

Boy, talk about a letdown.

The certified letter was from our D’s high school. It should have been addressed “To the parents of…” It was an Official Notice of Truancy, with an implied threat of sending her case to the county Sheriff. She has exceeded her “maximum pre-arranged parent excuse days” by 3 days.

Keep in mind that every time she’s missed for auditions I’ve emailed the attendance secretary and the guidance counselor. Before Chicago Unifieds I emailed the principal, and he even wrote back wishing her good luck. What I neglected to do was keep the dean of students in the loop. My mistake. Let’s just keep things polite by saying that she has a “difficult” personality.

Also keep in mind that D is good about making up missed assignments, is in the top 25% of her class, keeps a 3.4 gpa, and currently attends two college classes as a Porter Scholar. Not exactly a juvenile delinquent.

So I called the dean to explain the situation. She informed me that they are bound by state law and that D can’t miss any more school. Unfortunately, we have three more out of state auditions that will require us to travel on the next three Fridays. Fortunately, D still has four sick days remaining that aren’t affected by parental excuse days. I’ll use their system against them - I can predict that D will be sick for each of the next three Fridays.

So like everyone else, we’re back to waiting for the results. BAL to everyone, and good luck with the weather out east.

Are you serious!!! Huge letdown!

Ugh, what a pain!

@cheeseheadmike Do they offer Saturday school to make up for the absences? Might give you a little bit of leeway if she does get really sick towards the end of the school year.

I’m trying to work the air travel on two of the trips so she can at least put in a half day before we head to the airport. @bisouu I’ll ask about Saturday school. Thanks for the tip. In a few months this will be but a memory.

So sorry for you! Our school was also very difficult to work with last year. Let’s just say my D was “sick” several times. Hated being forced by the school to lie, as that is not in my, nor my D’s personality. Amazing that the basketball team that won the state championship missed MANY days from school, and doubt their grades were as good as D’s… Like you said, it’s now just a memory, thank goodness!
