Does UArts notify via email? Snail mail?

I know someone who auditioned at OCU in November this audition season who got their acceptance before Christmaa. But I have not heard of any other notifications this year. Last year it usually took about 3 weeks or so after the audition before getting reaults and acceptances were sent via email.

Sorry DoReMiMom, yes Ithaca has Ben sending snailmail. A couple friends have rejections and I know of one who was already accepted for MT and found out yesterday, again, by snailmail. I haven’t heard anything yet but auditioned on the same day as these friends.

Thanks SpotConlon. My D auditioned for them at Unifieds in Chicago. Her status changed last week with the audition moving from the “we still need” side to the “what we have” side. Hopefully something will come in the mail this week.

HEEEEEYYY, The D said that hers changed as well, DRMMom. I read last year’s Ithaca thread and it seems that things are being done differently this year. I think I actually prefer snail mail. It’s extremely old school, but less obsessive. Here’s hoping that both of our lovely daughters have good news in the mailbox!!

Hiiiiiiiiii GSOMTMom! I agree with you! Snail mail would be much better. I’m too obsessed with these online portals. Would love for this week to be a great one for our D’s!! :)

I actually like snailmail too because I probably win for portal-check-counts! Waiting for the schools that some are already receiving answers from is super tough, so here’s to good news for all, and soon!!

With snail mail I can at least see if D has any letters (since she doesn’t share her univ portal info) . I often ask her to check her school’s online sites and get the teenage “ok” response followed by … (right, nothing!)

I heard the same thing at Ithaca, however, one of the kids from our MT group recently got accepted so I don’t think their no acceptance thing is a hard and fast rule. I thought zero acceptances would be permitted but I guess not! :)

Also PSU has made one definite acceptance, also in our MT grp. The monitor at the audition did talk about having a group decision day in which the entire class is decided. She never explicitly said no decisions made until then but it didn’t seem like any had been.

I think overall there CAN be early acceptances even in programs that say they are not rolling admissions. Many programs this year surprised us with that since my D was firmly convinced PSU and Ithaca would not send out acceptances yet. Scary! That being said, even if schools don’t necessarily hold to no acceptances before X policy, they are all lovely and we would be lucky to be admitted to one of them, early or regular decision.

Oh also CMU has made two ON THE SPOT acceptances! One boy and one girl. Two students at a Florida arts high school - my d is friends with one of them!

Baldwin Wallace – Offers: sent via snail mail by 3/20. Rejections: Same time as wait list and acceptance offers. Financial Aid notifications 2 weeks later.

Ball State University – Offers are extended by March 1st. Waiting list students selected the week following. All students accepted and/or on waiting list will be called directly and receive a snail mail letter. Rejections are sent out on a rolling basis. Scholarships are determined by the middle of March.

Boston Conservatory – Offers: late March to early April. Rejections: ? Financial Aid notification: ?

Carnegie Mellon – They call the kids who are accepted in the 3rd week in March. Everyone else finds out via snail mail that they’ve been rejected.

CCM - this year seems to be different than previous. Online status updated first, followed up by snail mail. Accepted students receive an email from Aubrey Berg shortly after online status is updated. Rejections have been sent a week or 2 after audition. A few offers made this year with the majority still at no decision at this time.

Coastal Carolina – Decisions: Rolling. Some offers/rejections sent after the November on campus auditions; most students deferred. Deferred students and all those who audition in the spring (on campus or Chicago) are notified in Mid-March- approximately 2 weeks after our final on-campus audition. Typically these notifications are sent via email from Department Chair, Ken Martin, but on occasion a phone call is made. You must be accepted into the university before you are offered a spot in the program. Financial aid notification: Performing arts scholarships are sent with the offer. Academic scholarships are separate.

Emerson – Decision: by Apr 1 via application portal at 1pm EST.

Indiana – MId to late March

Ithaca – Rejections: early March via ? . Offers come later. Acceptances posted on MyIthaca account, starting in late February and continuing in unpredictable pattern through March; rejections seemed to be communicated by disabling the student’s MyIthaca account. Like last year, some acceptances are being received within a few weeks after audition, via snail mail.

James Madison University: Acceptance to university on admissions portal; official letter from theater/MT program arrived 1-2 days later; my son also received an e-mail from program director telling him he would be getting an acceptance letter from the theater department. Students admitted to the university EA will hear whether or not they have also been admitted to the program in early March. Students admitted to the university RD will hear whether or not they have also been admitted to the program shortly after they find out they are accepted academically to the university… usually by April 1. All academically admitted students to the university will receive a letter from the program. Some students admitted to the program may also receive an email notification or a phone call. Students who are not admitted academically to the university will not hear from the program whether or not they would have been admitted.

Marymount – snail mail, goes out in waves starting now (mid-Feb)

Montclair – rolling. Decisions about 3 weeks after audition.

NYU/Tisch – Decisions by Apr 1st after 5pm via email (per website). 2 weeks later for which program.

Otterbein–The arts admissions coordinator calls accepted students directly on their cell phones. Last year it was on March 13th. Official letter including scholarship information came a few days later. Not sure about notification for waitlist–those might get phone calls too?–rejections, I believe, come by mail.

Pace – Academic acceptances: Rolling. MT acceptances: by Mar 30 via phone call but Amy said they hoped for mid-March. MT Rejections: mid-late March via email. Scholarships offered with academic acceptance. Financial aid: ?

Penn State – Decisions: they have a team “decision Sunday” in mid-March with acceptance notifications going out that week (via ?). Rejection for MT program came via snail mail dated 4 days after NY Unifieds audition. The decision meeting has been the day after the last on campus audition in years past. Decisions are sent to the Admissions office the Monday after the decision meeting and Admissions sends out snail mail acceptances on Tuesday. The 12 to 14 accepted will usually receive them by the end of that week. Of course, this is not written in stone and I have no inside info - just going by what has happened the last 4 years. This year when my D was filling out her paperwork at the door they also got her to put her number on the sheet with a list of available times to call the number. The director said that would be used for acceptances but that emails could also be used.

Point Park - Academic decisions are rolling. MT decisions twice per year via snail mail. This year it was end of January. Remaining decisions to be sent after final audition, which I believe is in April. Scholarships ae sent with decisions

Rider - Seems to be rolling admissions… Quite a few students accepted/rejected already, to both acting and MT. Notification made via snail mail letter a few weeks after the audition date.

Roosevelt CCPA – Decisions: sent by mid-March via email. (decisions came late March last year)

Shenandoah – One - two weeks after audition

Syracuse – Decisions: begin early March via email

University of Michigan – Acceptances late Feb (according to some old notes from spring 2013 campus visit)

University of the Arts – rolling. Decisions about 3 weeks after audition.

Webster – last week of March for acceptances and rejections

Wright State - Rolling admissions - decisions by snail mail approx 2 weeks after audition

Carefully copy and paste the list AND the instructions. Add your info so that is appears in red. To use red, you would post it like this BUT YOU CANNOT HAVE ANY OF THE SPACES INSIDE THE BRACKETS SO REMOVE THEM:

@ddBroadway2 CMU explicitly says that they do not decide on the class until after all auditions have been seen. We are talking Carnegie Mellon, right? It would be incredibly hard to believe that they would accept anyone in the room…

@ddBroadway2 I’m in the same boat as @SpotConlon here…CMU has never accepted on the spot and it seems that, if they did, there would be national news coverage. Ha! Interested to find out these results as we get closer to March… ~~Quinoa

I was surprised and didn’t really believe D either. We are referring to Carnegie Mellon, yes. The two students who were supposedly accepted have posted about it and been congratulated all about it on all of their profiles; D showed me yesterday! As with any rumors like this though, take them with a grain of salt. I can assure you that I too was hugely impressed when I heard. If it turns out to be true then that is seriously a feat worthy of news coverage…lol

PS definitely do not hold me to this!!! lol my DAUGHTER told me a few days ago. I’m not even sure if it’s true or not and am thinking it was silly to publicize. I just thought it was incredibly bizarre

OK totally embarrassed to be posting for the 6th time on this thread but I just talked to my D and she told me they were accepted NOT FOR MT but for stage management. I told my D i’d just told a very large parent forum something completely false and she just laughed at me.

Facepalm - FORGET that I posted that now because it’s totally false information! Forget I said anything!!!

Well, that reminds us all of an additional question to ask: Accepted for which major?

I’m going to try NOT to have a heart attack, until a heart attack is warranted.

PSU actually accepted 2 already, 1 boy who wa accepted very early on and 1 girl…both for MT

LOL! It’s not totally false information, doBroadway2, just the wrong major. You didn’t let your internet friends down! LOL!
