MT Notification Dates and Methods Spring 2014

I’m pretty sure it’s one decision. I feel like the recent auditioners are getting the status change. It really says the same thing though.,

What kind of letter was sent to early auditioners?

It was a letter that either said yes (everyone was told this is very rare but there is 1 boy and 1 girl who got yes) a no, or deferred status.

Just saying, unless things have changed this year, Montclair doesn’t “automatically” consider everyone for Acting. Only if you’re interested (which my D wasn’t).

We did not get a letter since the audition 2 weeks ago.

Rite so they are probably updating status on line saying decisions will be posted soon. Ours is staying the same because we received a letter. That’s my guess any way!

Montclair asked my son if he would also consider BFA Acting. When son first told me this, I thought they had asked after he auditioned and I thought to myself, what, they didn’t like how my boy sings?? Turns out they asked him prior to the start of his audition:)

My understanding of Ithaca, based on NYC audition info session, was that they might tell people no prior to last audition, but not accept until all were over. The Unified FB list probably just reflects the rejection letters. I don’t think the list is necessarily acceptances.

There are definitley a few acceptances…

Does anyone know how/when Hartt notifies the kids?

By letter and by April 1, but I know of some kids that are getting their letters already…

@Calliene, my S was asked during his Montclair audition at NY Unifieds if he was interested in majoring in Acting (which threw him for a loop, as he hadn’t even done his mono at that point), to which he responded that he had only applied for MT and was only interested in pursuing MT. But this week his online status showed “No” to the Acting concentration, further freaking him out as to what that could mean! Admissions confirmed that his name was on the list they received from the Dept. of Theatre and Dance of applicants who had been rejected for the Acting major, leading us to assume that he had been considered for Acting despite his statement of non-interest at the audition. They said he’d receive a letter to that effect soon; the jury’s still out on MT.

@entertainersmom, Montclair asked my son “Are you sure you don’t want to major in Acting” right after his songs but before his mono, so I had the same reaction when he told me that! Maybe they just forgot to ask him before the audition started like they normally do because they were dazzled by his good looks.

LOL, maMTma, maybe the Acting Department rejected him because HE rejected THEM!! Maybe everyone who says “no” to acting gets put on the list of acting rejects. Who knows, maybe they got mixed up and forgot he’d said no… like we keep saying, if we could just for a SECOND be flies on the wall at these auditions…

Phew, I feel better about his rejection now from Acting! Unfortunately, he said “Why not?” when they asked. so now I’ve been thinking, if they don’t like his acting, then MT is out. This may be the case…or not! [-O<
Having fun with the new emoticons!!

LOL thanks guys.

In response to the PSU status thing, my D auditioned at Chicago Unifieds on Feb 5 and there has been no status change. We didn’t get a letter. My penn state is still saying the same thing as always. But let us know what’s in the letter if you do get one with an admissions decision!

D is dying over here waiting for decisions! It’s been 15 days since her last audition (but who’s counting?) with no responses as of yet! Good to see this thread and know when to expect some results.

On the portal it has changed to a double NO from Montclair, moving on!

UGH!!! Sorry entertainersmom.

@ddBroadway2 Same here – no responses from any auditions yet. Apparently my D chose schools that wait to notify until the end.

I think eventually we’ll have to start a thread about the process – what we liked about the way we scheduled auditions, etc, and what we’d do differently if we had to do it over again. At this point it would be nice to have at least an indication on whether or not there will be any acceptances, but looking back, I’m glad my D didn’t do any fall auditions because even though we thought she was ready back then, she improved sooo much from October to January with a voice teacher who really pushed her that I’m glad all the auditions fell in Jan/Feb. Still, it’s kind of angsty waiting for that first response (but it’s angsty for almost everyone who hasn’t made a decision yet, so we’re all in the same boat).

Okay, freaking out over here!!! Just logged on to S’s My Ithaca account and it says “Your myIthaca account is unavailable at this time. If you have questions, please contact the Office of Admission at 800-429-4274 or 607-274-3124”. OMG…is this the dreaded…“your account has been de-activated…this is your rejection!!!”
