Wasn't sure how to title this post, but just wanted to share an observation.
Last night was the opening night of the show that my D is doing this summer at a small local regional theatre. She participated in the program last year, and there are several of the same kids.
One of the boys in this year's show (and last year's show) just finished his freshman year at UMich in MT.
Before going away to college, he was definitely one of the local celebrities in MT -- lead in the All State musical, all leads at his high school, etc.
But I can honestly say there is a marked difference in his performance from last year to this year. He is so much more polished, his voice is much more controlled, and he has a lot more confidence in his dancing. Even my unobservant husband agreed that there was a big change in him.
It made a big impression on me as a reminder of what the goal of all of this college audition stuff is -- for our very talented kids to become competent, grown up performers!
