Starting to put together the college tour list for D2. She is an MT junkie, spends summers in MT programs, studies classical voice, leads her schools' a cappella group and has done some straight drama as well. She very much wants the opportunity to participate in high-quality MT classes and productions in college. However, she does not want a conservatory program or to be a MT major. She is a strong student with top grades at a top prep school. Any suggestions of Arts and Sciences schools with good MT programs and an opportunity for non-majors to get onto the stage?

There are many very selective colleges that have MT opportunities. I’ll throw two out there where there is a great deal for a MT kid in terms of productions…Yale and Brown. By the way, both also have a lot of a capella groups too.

Any other schools that fit this category that have slightly better admission rate?

Brandeis has a very strong student run theater program. The Undergraduate Theater Collective includes 5 different performing groups: [utc.undergrad-theatre-collective[/url]

One of the student groups, Tympanium Euphorium, is an exclusive MT group putting on a large production each semester. This past year they put on “A Chorus Line” and “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee”.

Skidmore could be an option.

Thank you for the suggestions. So far my list is Yale, Brown, Brandeis, Skidmore. I have also heard GW, Vassar and Wesleyan. Any others?

Check out Northwestern, Bard, Barnard, UMiami, Tulane, Tufts, Duke, Muhlenberg
