Does anyone know anything about the MT program at Boulder? I've heard some very good things from a couple of people, but really haven't gotten too much information. Thanks!

I don't know anyone who has gone to that program and only know the little bit I researched which I will copy below:

University of Colorado offers a BFA MT, BFA Theater, BFA Performance, or a BA Theater. It is located in Boulder, CO, has an urban campus. There are 26,000 undergrad students at the university. 31% come from out of state. UC-Boulder accepts 88%. 22% come from top 10% of their HS class, 54% from top quarter, 89% from top half. The mid SAT ranges are: CR 530-630, M 550-650, Combined CR/M 1080-1280. The mid ACT range is 23-28. The Avg. GPA of admitted students is 3.5.

The BFA in MT involves courses in both the College of Music and the Department of Theater and Dance (notice it is a program split between two departments, which not all MT programs are). You either have to audition on campus in Feb. or send in an audiotape. Decisions are then sent in two weeks. I dont think it is as hard to get into as many other BFA programs and it isnt a well-known program. But U of Colorado is a popular university that you may like while also getting BFA in MT training. If you like a big university in a fun location and where it is easier to get into the BFA (not as national or competitive of an applicant pool), it may be worth a look.

CU-Boulder has a strong College of Music, good voice faculty, and excellent faculty resources in its opera program. They have done summer musical/operetta/opera program for many years. Cannot find the link for what they did this past summer, know there were two productions, but for the 2007-2008 season: http://www.cuconcerts.org/opera.html

Here is a link to an old thread about the program there.
