MT Program - US or UK which is better

Can anyone advise good MT undergrad. programs in UK?
Has anyone studied n compared the curriculum, costs (3-yr study in UK), exposures of these programs n job opportunities in US for MT graduates from UK?
Would it be better to attend UK for undergrad follow by MFA afterwards?

I can’t speak 100% on UK schools, but the first schools that come to mind are LIPA and The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. The Conference of Drama Schools offers a search function that gives you an overview of programs that might be helpful to you - [The Conference of Drama Schools - Guide to Courses](stocksphere.com)

Hope that helps some :)

Here is a recent thread with lots of discussion on this topic, including lists of schools:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/musical-theater-major/1345787-uk-schools.html?highlight=uk</a></p>

UK schools offer an interesting alternative to US schools:

You get your BA in 3 years (which seems more like a US BFA to me) and a Masters in 4.

The level of acting training in the UK seems to be highly regarded.

The costs are quite reasonable compared to the list price of private schools in the US, although the relatively high cost of living and travel have to be factored in.

International experience.

There are disadvantages as well that are discussed in the thread noted above (difficult to pursue Summer Stock work in the US, lack of a US network upon graduation, visa issues if you would like to stay and work in the UK, etc.).

Here is another thread that details one student/parent journey to RCS:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/musical-theater-major/1444516-cc-senior-year-one-mt-parents-journey.html</a></p>

Others have chimed in about good programs in the UK. I want to address your other questions. Studying MT in GB or any other country offers a person auditioning in the USA no advantage. For the most part the top triple threat training programs in the US do a better job preparing one for the US market than GB or any other country. It is a form born and bred in the USA - we know it more intimately. Having said that, there are some great programs in GB, Australia, Denmark, etc and if your objective is to experience life abroad - then that is another issue. Also, most MTer’s go directly into the biz after the BFA - MFA’s typically come after at least a few years of life experience. Wish you well on your journey.

Thank you all. Both US n UK are international to us as we’re Asian holding UK passport. Given the nature of the industry, think UK is better as we don’t have visa issue. However, careerwise, whether there’ll be more opportunity for Asian in US then UK?

You will have visa issues as an international, regardless of where you go to school. Getting work in the U.S. as an international presents some very large hurdles.
