MT Rejections

Wow that’s even better news for mainleymom!!

Opps! my reply was for the Jacksonville message. Hope you see that mainlymom. Don’t give up!

boco rejection here…

So sorry! They are a tough one, guess that means we will be hearing soon too, but aren’t expecting much.

Since it was mentioned earlier in the thread…Coastal Carolina University doesn’t have any scheduled late audition dates. Our first acceptance letters have been sent. However, our wait list is quite short at this point. Therefore we have decided to continue to see people for the next few weeks. PM me for information.

This is the first year for new BFA majors in Musical Theatre, Acting, Design and Technology and Physical Theatre.

BoCo rejection too. The e-mail came earlier than expected and I was caught off guard lol I’m okay with it though, I’m really liking one of the schools I applied to for a BA anyway. Funny how things work out because I started this whole thing only wanting a BFA.

Just to add about Jacksonville U. I also know a few kids in the program and they are very happy-also know someone who transferred into voice performance there and loves it.

adding on to my rejection list… rejection #7— BoCo… but it’s okay

Musical M- you are my favorite of all the posters here! No matter what, you are always up-beat and positive. I am so glad to see that you got an acceptance to Shorter. I don’t know much about that program, but you will be successful wherever you go because of your great attitude. Instructors and other students gain so much from working with people like you who are out to get the most they can out of their surroundings. Best wishes!

Ditto everything takeitallin said above to you Musical Maranda.

Musical_Maranda - Lots of us on here cheering for you. Sounds like Shorter College is lucky to have you! I know you are waiting on at least one more decision so fingers crossed for you!

Well shucks, I’m blushing! Thanks so much for all of your support. Rejections can be hard, but I’m already stressed enough with the waiting process, so why add more stress by beating myself down from rejections? I’m confident that In the end I’ll end up where I’m meant to be… annnnnd if I end up not liking where I’m meant to be I’ll reaudition and switch schools my sophomore year ha ha  ( but hopefully that won’t have to happen) ---- I know I made a HUUUUGE oops by auditioning to so many extremely competative schools @@… ha ha 10 of my 11 schools were very very competative. It’s hard to know going into auditions if you’re going to be one of the kids that all the colleges want, or if you’re going to be one of the kids who is lucky to get 1 or 2 acceptances…

—Advice to prospective auditioners-- Be prepared and well rounded with your auditions… and play to your strengths… If you think you’re a stronger singer than an actor, auditions for schools that look more for singer who can act… and flip -flop… If you’re a stronger actor than singer, try auditioning for schools that look for actors who can sing  … just saying all this cause I didn’t know about colleges looking for " actors who can sing" when I signed up for my auditions ha ha! my first audition at Carnegie Mellon, one of the first things they said was " We are looking for very strong actors who can sing." ha ha in my head I was like " OH SNAP!" :stuck_out_tongue: … OH! And more advice is that Unified auditions can be a wonderful thing, but be careful, cause you never know what could happen… I ended up losing my voice the day before Unifieds, so on the drive up to Chicago I was popping Ricola like a drug addict. I did 4 of my auditions at Unifieds… a lot of people will do most / all of their auditions at unifieds… baad plan… that can be the case for any audition though, really… but I think that is most important to consider with Unifieds— so if there are schools that you can do on campus auditions for, do themuse something could happen to set you back at unifieds. I had bad health luck with a lot of my auditions, which is strange, cause I hardly ever get sick… for CMU, 2 days before my audition I ended up waking up with cellulitis in my foot ha ha, I named my foot Clifford, cause it was big and red… that dance audition was “fun” ( nooot!) buut they only accept 4 girls, so if i’m not accepted there I totally wont be offended. — then of course losing my voice before unifieds really set me back, but I feel like my Webster audition at Unifieds went REALLY well, and I good a really good vibe from Lara Teeter and the Piano man, so I’m hopeful. :-)

Still waiting to hear from Carnegie Mellon, Uarts ( which went really well… I posted my audition videos on youtube… if you’re curious, just type in Maranda Rossi… I’m the blonde in the blue dress… and ha ha nooo I didn’t do opera for my other auditions --cept Shorter, cause they asked for it.-- buut they suggested and ari on the audition for, so I was like “Well duh I’ll do an aria!!!” ( cause I absolutely adore Opera) hey, arias got me into Shorter, so why not? if you do watch that video, sorry for the first high nite— I wasn’t breathing from my gut in that one, so it’s a lil shrill)) and Webster  Should be finding out this week… woohoo!

Thank you again! … and holy holy, I just wrote a novel of a message

Hi Musical Maranda. Congratulations on your acceptance to Shorter! My daughter was in a show a few years ago with a young lady who graduated from Shorter in 2007; she is very talented and, from what I understand, loved her college experience! I have a message in to her to see if she has some time to chat with you. I will get back with you when I hear back from her. :)

adding another to my rejection list- Pace. =/

oh well, still 3 more! and i’m already in at Boco!

Illinois wesleyan rejection.

To those who have been rejected. I would like to offer my insight! When I auditioned my senior year of high school I got rejected from all seven schools I auditioned at! I’m here to tell you even if you don’t get into any schools please please please do NOT doubt your talent and let those rejections diminish your confidence! Trust me i’ve been down this path and beat myself up for over a good year and to this day still struggle with having been rejected two years ago. However I will say that it’s definitely toughened me up and given me a stronger back bone and just because you are rejected doesn not mean you are not talented!! I have still be cast in summer stock shows and have gotten compliments from faculty where I currently go to school for theatre studies on how my skill set is. I have friends who are MT/Acting majors who have told me that i’m just as good as the MT’s here at Wright State! Just remember that in this business type, look, and so many other factors play into an acceptance and getting cast in roles that alot of the times it doesn’t have to do with your talent…while yes talent is important it’s only a small piece of the crazy puzzle of casting in this industry!! I know it sucks being rejected but keep your heads high and also know that just because you got rejected from a school or all schools you’ve applied to know that you STILL CAN make it!!! Hope this helps I definitely know what you guys are going through!!!

Also- Rejection from Carnegie Mellon.
=[

pssst---- wrightstateboy… are you Nate from Urinetown??? ( if not, sorry! ha ha  just thought I’d ask)— It’s amazing that you’re staying so strong after those rejections… one of my friends just finished all of her auditions and got rejected from every single place she auditioned to, which is really sad, but she DID did invited to participate in Kent States Porthouse ( or something like that) and reaudition, so she’s deffinently taking advantage of that. Buuut YES! Rejections don’t mean you aren’t talented… if you think about it… a lot of the same people audition at places-- like those kids that EVERYONE wants… and a lot of places don’t do waitlist, so they accept those kids that are getting in everywhere or almost everywhere and looking over people like us… it doesn’t mean that were not talented… at all! So keep your chin up  My school theater director ( she’s amazing) told me a while ago that if I end up not getting in anywhere I should check out Theater at Sinclair ( it’s a community college)… if any of you end up not getting anywhere ( which I really really hope you all do) try signing up for the theater program at a community college, and reaudition in the fall… There are some pretty amazing people that have had to go to community colleges because of rejections… and I do mean amazing… It doesn’t matter where you go, it’s what you take from your education.

Super congrats on getting into BoCo, zoerphl!!!

Just thought I’d announce that I’m really falling in love with Shorter college. I have a feeling that even if I get accepted to Uarts, CMU, or Webster, I"ll probably go to Shorter… the program may not be well knows, but after watching many many youtube videos, I think Shorter students have the best singing voices and vocal training— the vocals are better than most Webster and Uarts students that I’ve seen on youtube, and that really says a lot

There are song samples on YouTube if anyone is curious in checking out shorter!!!

There’s a ballad from a girl at Shorter —“Out of Love”

Tthe school had a master class with Pasek & Paul, and one of the students did this there.— “In Short”

Picking up on the rejections thing… it may even just be that you picked the wrong audition songs for you… I feel like I picked really poor audition song choices.

Musical Maranda
I just checked out Shorter college website and it looks like an amazing school with lots of great opportunities. Perhaps divine intervention gave you that option only (so far) because it is indeed where you are meant to be. Your positive outlook and persistence will take you far in ANY career path you choose. congratulations and enjoy your new school.

Thank you soo much! It’s such a wonderful school, and I feel so blessed to have the opportunity to go there :-D— AND! I just found out that it is posible to have a minor with an MT major there, so I think I’m going to minor in Psychology :-)
