MTAP applicant put on hold

Hello,

I’m in the MTAP program and I just finished my 1st semester at Montgomery College. The three MTAP qualifications are: 30 credits completed, a college GPA of 3.0 or higher, and college level English/Math. I’ve completed only 14 credits, have a 3.2 gpa, and I’m currently taking college level English. Since I’m not meeting all of the MTAP qualifications for guaranteed admission to University of Maryland, I was told by a counselor and admissions rep. that I will be put on hold until my final grades from MC come in (space being avalible). I was also told to apply before the March 1st deadline (and I already applied) in order for them to hold my application, since after March 1st space gets limited.

I wanted to know if anyone who is in the MTAP program has been through a similar experience? Did you ultimately get in, or were you denied admission (even though you applied by March 1st) because you weren’t meeting the requirements and space had run out? I’m just curious to know how many MTAP applicants who were finishing admission requirements were admitted to the university and how many were not. Thank you.

Can someone please say something?

I’m sorry, OP. I’ve been out of state for too long and don’t know specifics about the MTAP program. Why did you apply to transfer if you hadn’t met the requirements?

@NerdMom88 I applied to transfer by the priority deadline becuase I was told to do so, and space may run out after priority deadline. Also, I’m trying to get in to UMCP as soon as possible. Do you have an idea whether I’ll be accepted or not if I do end up meeting their requirements by end of this semester? Thanks.

Sorry, no. @maryversity @SoofDad can you answer?

@DragonFire16 @NerdMom88 - I don’t know the answer. I don;t have any knowledge of the Transfer processes.

Sorry…I am OOS, so I don’t have any knowledge of that either…I found this contact info if you want to direct your questions directly to him: Director of Transfer Access Programs Justin Edgar at jedgar@umd.edu

@NerdMom88 It’s ok and thank you for trying

@maryversity Thank you so much for giving me the right person to contact. This should help out alot.

Good luck!
