MTCA - Initial Consult In-Person -vs- Skype

My D has an opportunity to get an initial consult in person with MTCA next week. We are wondering if there is a large advantage for both parties doing this in person or would Skype be okay. Other sessions would be through Skype since we are not in the NYC area. Thoughts from anyone? Has anyone done everything through Skype and felt satisfied.

If you have an opportunity to start with an in person consult I wholeheartedly urge you to do it. We have loved working with MTCA and D has done the bulk of the work through Skype and I’m sure had it only been Skype she would have had the same great connection. But we took advantage of a trip to NYC last year to start the process in person and it was a wonderful way to get the ball rolling. She had the opportunity to meet with each of her coaches in person while we were there and that was a really nice way to begin. I can’t say enough good things about MTCA and everyone affiliated with them - so if you have the time and opportunity by all means get that in person consult!

I’m interested in finding out more about MTCA. What is their full name? We live in Chicago and would need to explore the skype option. My D is still waiting to hear from 3 of her top schools, so Fall may work out for her, but if she doesn’t get into a program that she is excited about I would like to look into MTCA & my D possibly take a gap year.

Son did a Skype consultation and coaching through Skype, but I would have enjoyed the chance to meet Ellen in person

We did skype for initial interview and my d’s sessions, and we were very happy! At the San Diego mock auditions that they hold in December we met in person my d’s mentor and Ellen. Skpe worked really well.

We also used MTCA. I live under an hour away from NYC but we did the initial consult with Ellen via Skype. We did have a technical glitch as I recall but we finally got it working and it was perfectly fine. My D had done a couple of years worth of private acting lessons via Skype so she was used to it. We were assigned Leo and out of the 21 coaching sessions my D had since May of Junior year she only did an in person session twice I believe. MTCA doesn’t have an actual studio, each of the coaches has the students meet in their apartment. NYC apartments are not very big so there really isn’t a big advantage in person vs. Skype. I certainly wouldn’t spend money to travel to NY for that. If you’re already going to be there and you just wanted to meet face to face that’s one thing, but totally unnecessary. We were very happy with MTCA and my D cannot imagine having gone through this whole process without her coach’s guidance.

Thanks everyone. We are going to NYC on vacation for an in-person is what we are having.
