Hi, i am not going to college till next year, but i have a friend who is going this year and asked me to ask about the card. but i don't know anyone who knows anything about it. I am assuming it'll be the same as getting a citi card just with more restrictions..

she's saying she wants to get, it but i think the only reason she wants to get it is because the MTV name is on it. She says she is also considering a Visa Student thing, i am not sure which one.. can anyone give me some advice to give her?

Actually, that MTVu card is issued by Citibank (the largest bank in the world) - I have a Citi platinum card that I love. Citi has great customer service, they gave me a high credit limit right off the bat ($1100) even though I didn't have any previous credit history, and increased it so that I now have a $4000 limit.

Icarus, thanks so you would reccomend this card to someone who is entering University.. if it helps she shops a lot, but i think her daddy will pay for most of the other stuff lol..

yeah - i mean, if she thinks she would use the rewards offered by this card. Otherwise, most credit cards are very similar in many respects. As long as you plan on paying it off in full each month, its all good.

Citi also offers amazing fraud protection. They've called me on weekends on a few occasions to verify purchases that they thought were "out of the ordinary." They indeed were mine, but I wasn't bothered at all by the fact that they wanted to make sure. What greatness.

... and Citi's CEO is a USC grad. Coincidence? Nah.

I ahve the MTVU and the Citi platinum card Dividend, Both came with 1200 spending limit and no apr for 6 months. seems pretty good. I havent had a problem.

best part all I did was resgister for them. No signing or papers to fill out. I just got the cards.

after reading about this card, i think i'll get it for college. i'm already cheap so i wont go wild w/ money. why not get free stuff by buyin required stuff: books and all that.

as long as ur responsible enough to pay your balance in full every month, its gr8.

well dont get the mtv card if you dont want the mtv crap...there are lots of good credit cards out there (its not hard to find, you just have to look...the ones that come to you are usually bad)
