Muhlenberg is starting a new program for liberal arts students in business/management. Below is the notice we received from the college. Thought it might be of interest to students considering the school.

Dear Students, Alumni, Parents and Members of the Muhlenberg Community:

Today I write to inform you of a new program at the College: the Muhlenberg Summer Business Institute - Liberal Arts at Work. Capitalizing on the expertise of our Accounting, Business & Economics faculty as well as the interest of local corporations, this program will provide liberal arts graduates and advanced students interested in business careers with an intensive introduction to the principles of management in an experiential, fast-paced, summer program format. This program will be held June 15-28, and applications from Muhlenberg students (rising juniors, rising seniors) and recent Muhlenberg alumni who did not major in business will be considered. Because this is a pilot program, we are offering it for this summer only tuition-free. If accepted into the program, participants will pay only the costs of housing, meals, books and local travel (estimated at $699).

Students who are accepted to the Summer Business Institute will receive career coaching; resume reviews; communications tools and tactics; training in business, management, and leadership; presentations by corporate executives and alumni; and corporate site visits. Enrollment for this program will be limited and competitive. Faculty nominations are strongly recommended.

The idea to launch the Institute was conceived in discussions with trustees of the College, corporate executives, faculty and interested alumni who believe that liberal arts graduates bring special strengths to business careers, but sometimes need a jump start to provide them with the basic business training that will make them competitive for entry-level corporate jobs. We believe that Muhlenberg, with its distinctive brand of liberal arts education balanced with pre-professional instruction, is strongly positioned to provide students and recent graduates with a competitive edge as they progress through their studies and prepare for jobs and life after college.

We believe the Muhlenberg Summer Business Institute is an exciting and unique opportunity. I invite you to learn more about it by attending one of the upcoming information sessions, or by contacting Dr. Scott Koerwer ’88 or Dean Jane Hudak at The Summer Study Office 484.664.3300 or wescoe@muhlenberg.edu.
Sincerely,
