Anyone want to provide thoughts/opinions/advice regarding these two schools? I’m trying to decide between the two. RIght now I’m leaning towards Muhlenberg.
they’re both fairly small, liberal arts, good academically, giving me roughly the same amount of $, nice campuses, goucher probably has a more ideal location-towson, md right outside of Baltimore
here are my concerns…
Goucher: almost too small (1300ish), female:male ratio of 7:3
Muhlenberg: Greek life (I don’t think its huge anymore though), not very diverse, Allentown
thanks for anything you can tell me!

Have you visited both places? From the descriptions I have read about both places, they seem to attract different types of students -- it is my understanding that Muhlenberg tends to attract a fairly large number of conservative, preppy students; Goucher has the reputation of attracting a more "artsy" and invidualistic student.

While Muhlenberg has about a thousand more students than Goucher, I don't think that size differential will really be that noticeable. As a former all-women's college, Goucher has a slightly higher ratio of women-to-men (7:10 vs. 6:10), but it is my understanding that Goucher's administration is actively attempting to recruit more men.

Academically speaking, in my opinion they both have very good reputations. I just think that if you have not already done so, you should visit both schools (or if you already have, go back a second time) and go where you feel most comfortable. Personally, I would be more attracted to Goucher (I like their iconoclastic reputation and their location would be a big plus for me over Allentown), but that is me. Last time I checked, I am not you.

In short, you will have the opportunity to get an excellent education at either college. If the money is the same, I would follow my heart. Good luck.

Thanks for the input. I guess theoretically I still have nearly a month to make my decision. And I'm sure I'd be happy at either school, it just seems like such a huge decision right now. And no, I haven't visited Goucher, only Muhlenberg. I think I'm probably going down there towards the end of the month.

Good luck. After your visit, I predict that you will be able to make your decision with much less angst.

I would recommend Goucher just because you have Baltimore which if you hate the school you might find something to do off campus since you are in a city as opposed to Allentown.

if you are a guy go to GOUCHER. you can't beat that ratio.

if you are a girl probably Muhlenberg unless you are artsy.

academically they are the same. they have almost completely opposite personalities.

I think I have pretty much settled on Muhlenberg. Overall I think it's a better fit. But thanks for the thoughts/opinions!
