My D was accepted to both for Acting program. UofA is a BFA and Muhlenberg has a strong Theatre/Performance BA program. We’re going out to PA to visit Muhlenberg. We visited UofA a year ago on a general tour just passing thru. D has met several ppl from Muhlenberg including the director when they were out in our area a few months ago. Even though she’s primarily interested in a BFA she LOVED everything she heard about Muhlenberg.
I was wondering is anyone had any insight/input/experience with either of these colleges re:Acting programs, the professors, and moving forward after graduation in regards to alumni, connections, work/internships??
(She was also accepted to Pace, which we are visiting next month as well. These all seem like very different schools. We’re both more familiar with Pace b/c she has friends in the program already )
4gsmom - She was accepted into the BA Theatre Program @ Pace which is now called “International Performance Ensemble”. It’s a BA program but only accepted by audition and shares some classes/professors with BFA Acting and Film majors.
@pamelama17 - what are your impressions of Pace? We don’t know anyone who goes there and would love some input. The students did seem happy there when we visited. But that was about all I could tell.
I may get attacked for this from those who love the program at Pace, but this is one person’s (that I personally know and heard this from) experience with the BA at Pace: she transferred because she felt that the BA kids always got short shrift behind the BFA kids. She felt they didn’t get the same (or even similar) opportunities, less stage time and less attention. Let the slings and arrows start.
My D is an MT, but, since MTs work closely with Acting majors, she may be able to answer questions and/or put you in touch with people who can. Also, @annelisesmom and her D were helpful to us last year; her D is an Acting major and now MT minor. PM me if you wish.
Any info on BFA Acting at Pace? I should probably ask this elsewhere - but in case anyone wants to chime in. U Arts is also an option, so info on that program is appreciated too.
@4gsmom@bfahopeful@pamelama17 With all respect, I totally disagree as a BA student. It’s just as competitive as the BFA program and the program heads are so passionate about the program. In addition, we get guaranteed performance both on 42nd St and internationally after sophomore year! Message me with any questions about the program
