Muhlenberg

Hi guys, I’ve been looking at schools and am trying to get some insight. The plan, as of now, is to attend medical school in the future. One of the schools that I have been looking at is Muhlenberg College, as people say that its premed program is strong. However, the average gpa/sat for attending students is quite low, which concern me. How good are the academics/opportunities at Muhlenberg compared to other more competitive schools like Emory, Williams, URochester, etc. Also, if anyone has any info on the Muhlenberg/BUSM program, that would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

First of all, given the small number of students who are affect by these partnership programs, I won’t comment specifically on the BUSM or Temple programs. I know the actual MD acceptance rates for Muhlenberg graduates and it isn’t close to what they claim for overall med school acceptance rates, so either there are a lot of DO admits, or …

Having said that, their MD acceptance rates are indeed above average and if you are among the 12 who get accepted to the St. Luke’s rotation program, it sounds pretty cool. As others will probably tell you, it’s the student and not the college that gets you into med school, and if Muhlenberg is a place you can thrive as an individual (get good grades, take advantage of opportunities, develop “Plan Bs” if premed doesn’t pan out) that’s great!

What is the MD acceptance rate? Thanks for the info.

@Hollybear19 Muhlenberg/BUSM program should not the primary criteria to choose/consider Muhlenberg. In general for MD admission, it is not recommended to apply early decision and hence first understand what is BUSM program. It says early application but not clear.

If you are so sure about medicine, you can also try BS/MD similar to EAP Muhlenberg offers like Temple BS/MD or any other BS/MD.

If you are going for regular MD, choose a college which meets all your other criteria. As others said, only individual efforts gets you medical admission and college and so called stats from any college or any web site has lot of foot prints and that will lead no where.

You can apply only after 2nd year.
