I got admitted to Muir College and i heard that the Tenaya house has wireless internet but the Tioga house doesnt...is this true?? Bc i really wanted to be in the Tioga house but if it doesnt have wireless then it would suck to have to always leave my dorm room whenever i needed to use the internet :(

There are ethernet ports if the wireless connection sucks. I don’t know about this personally, but it doesn’t make sense to me. Why would a dorm NOT have routers and a connection set up, especially in a modern university? Tioga (and all the dorms on campus) should have wireless connections, but sometimes they may be very weak, so prepare and bring an ethernet cord. The individual dorm buildings should be practically the same anyway, in terms of layout and such.

You are right; Tenaya Hall does have wireless internet access built in but Tioga Hall does not. Tioga Hall has one of the slowest internet speeds on campus, both wireless and ethernet. But, I hear next year they’ll be installing new equipment in Tioga (hopefully), so if you’re living there next year, you’ll be in luck.

Damn, that’s pretty messed up for Tioga folks >.> I always thought wireless was in every res hall.

Indeed. But I guess that’s the price to pay for a room with an ocean view.

I’m an RA in Warren and my room barely has wireless. Ha ha. The ethernet is fine though. That’s not pertaining to Muir, but just saying. :P
