On one page it says:
John Muir College :: Celebrating the Independent Spirit

"General Education Requirements for Transfer Students
IGETC
Writing: MCWP 50 or 125"

but on another page it says:
John Muir College :: Celebrating the Independent Spirit

"Once at Muir, IGETC students must complete Muir College Writing 50 or 125, one course in the diversity of U.S. culture"

So, do I need to take one course in the diversity of U.S. culture or not?

Yes you have to take one course in diversity. It is only one quarter too, so it really isn’t that bad.

There are a lot of varied options in the approved diversity classes. For example, I took one on American Jazz in the music department.

If you are TAG or IGETC certified, you only need to take MCWP 50 or MCWP 125. The requirement for the course in the diversity of U.S. culture was recently waived for TAG and IGETC transfers.

I’m not too sure about non-TAG/non-IGETC transfers though. I, myself, am TAG certified. Asked a Muir counselor about the info mix up, and she made it absolutely clear that I don’t need to take the diversity course.
