Just wondering what are the best/easiest GEs to take at Muir.

My GE Selections:
Social Science: Psychology (Easy or Hard. Interested in psychology, but don't want to take it if it's amazingly hard)
Mathematics: Engineering Major.. So Yeah
Humanities: History-East Asia (Difficulty level?)
Foreign Language: Spanish?

My sister, who attends UCLA, said she only had to take one class, which was at a JC, of spanish to complete a GE requirement at UCLA. She also said because she took 3 years of spanish (up to spanish 3) in high school she only had to take one additional college credited class to meet the GE Req. Does this make sense? If it does, is it the same as UCSD?

i took urban studies and spanish -- when i was done my GPA was steaming hot! -- psychology and economics were pretty easy too -- i never took east asian history, but all history courses are a bit tougher

i know some HS classes count as GE's if you have AP credit for them -- so you do not have to do the whole sequence to fulfill the requirement

i'm assuming you guys still have to take writing courses -- now that is one GE you should beware of -- whenever i took it it was practically writing these highly structured and very long essays and almost no one got an A in the class -- people who get A's are practically legends there -- it is easy not to pass at all -- needless to say that this writing was the worst GE ever -- i believe you get to pick whichever teacher you want to have and each one has his or her personal area of focus -- like native american rights or prison populations in unites states, liberal right stuff like that -- that is what they'll talk about during the quarter, make you read a book or something like that, then write essays ... so if you can still pick, choose something that interests you -- most people don't know they have these focus areas to choose from and end up with something they cannot really relate to, which makes the essay process harder
