Multi-lingual as hook?

Hi,

I was wondering if knowing four languages would count as a hook, and if so, how strong of a hook? I'm fluent in English and Chinese, will be taking Spanish IV and AP French as senior next year and possibly take Japanese 101, 102, 103 over the summer. Should I pursue the extra language or get volunteer hours which I desperately lack? Are there volunteer programs with emphasis on language?

It’s not a hook. A hook isn’t just something you are good at, it’s something beyond your control that makes you very attractive to colleges (URM, Legacy, First-gen).

However, your language skills are a plus, and will probably help you.

If you’re fluent in Spanish, you can do social service volunteering, they always need Spanish speakers.
