$ Multi-million Renovations Coming for Two Important Academic Buildings at UA

Meant to post this in September. The UA trustees voted to renovate the Biology Building, Houser Hall, the main building on the newly acquired Bryce campus and the “old Womens Admission Center” there. They also voted to build a much needed new parking deck on the South side of campus.

The cost for the renovation of the Biology Building is $20 million plus! Houser’s renovation will cost nearly $16 million. This is good news cause Houser, in its current state, looks really bad next to the new Science and Engineering Complex. And the Biology building has needed renovation for years. If these renovations are as successful as the one was for Russell Hall, they will look spectacular.

Thanks for the update!

I’ve wondered when they were going to upgrade the Bio bldg and Houser. $20M+ for the Bio bldg is substantial.

Does anyone know when the expansion/renovation of the north side of Gorgas Library will take place? I still don’t know how that is even possible, but will be cool to see when done.

Found this document.

Wow…$26.5M for the Gorgas expansion. Should be awesome.

The amounts of money that Bama is spending on its campus is really overwhelming!

Bama never ceases to amaze!

On our tour (two years ago now), they said the Biology Bld had never been named (the last bld on campus yet unnamed, I believe). They jokingly said that if anyone wants to leave a legacy and had tons of $$$ to gift to the UA, you would probably get naming rights.
