Multicultural open house

has anyone attended this event in previous years? if so, do you have any tips on whether it was worthwhile and why, anything worth seeing not included in tours/info sessions, and any tips for those attending this weekend? thanks!

Are the students who are invited to this event, usually underepresented minorities, or is everyone on the yale mailing list invited?

I'm Indian (south asian) and I was invited and I went. So no, I guess I am technically an ORM. I actually really liked it and felt the students really did know how to sell the university. Other than that, the rest was pretty repetitive. Did anyone else go? I personally gained a new love for the university while I was there.

Columbiahopeful, I'm not so sure if you would be considered a minority or not. If you look at the students on the recruiting staff for minorities, they seem to include Asians. Were there people of all races/ethnic origins at this event-that would tell you if it was for students they consider minorities. Although, it is tough to tell what someone's ethnic background is.

I know what you mean about Yale. My son was really impressed after going on a student tour. Previously, Columbia had been his first choice. The students that ran the tours at two other schools he visited, seemed to just want the tour to be over with.

I went to the open house, too. I found it informative in some ways but not particularly mindblowing or exciting; I don't know that it was meant to be, though. I'm writing about it on my blog as usual.
