I received an invitation to visit Macalester today via their "Multicultural Sampler," but they didn't tell me what exactly this was... anyone want to fill me in? This reminds me of a similar program at Kenyon I was invited to, but that confused because they told me it was for URM's-- I'm pretty Caucasian lol.

Did anyone else get an invite? If this meant for minorities or is it just Macalester being famously multicultural.

I got invited as well but I'm a URM. I assumed it was for minorities like the Kenyon one. I'm not sure if I'll be able to go though. I know I can't go to the first date because of my school musical but being able to go to the second one depends on where else I get in and I won't find that out by the deadline (March 20)

I'm Caucasian and I only got invited to the admitted students weekend. No multicultural thing. I would assume that it's supposed to be for URMs. Did you refrain from putting your ethnicity on your application?

I'm pretty sure I put it... I'm enough of a libertarian to not be ashamed of my whiteness lol.
I did mention (in passing) in my essays that my father is from Cuba, though I also noted I was raised by a single mom. Maybe I wasn't clear that my mom's ancestors have been here since the 1650's?

Or maybe it was my supplemental materials, an article written in a gay youth magazine talking about being called a "dumb Hispanic" and a "f****t."

Or maybe being from Kentucky is multicultural lol.

I'm quickly realizing just how multicultural we al are. :-p

Yes, I, the white male from suburbia, California, am quite multicultural :P
