Multicultural Weekend 2009

six days and counting?

Until the 8th, which is when they found ot last year. Of course, this year that’s a Sunday, so maybe the 9th this year… so maybe “God, 5-10 days and counting.”

will they send the invitation( to the multicultural weekend) by mail or e-mail?

My D got it by mail last year. At that time we weren’t “plugged in” to CC and didn’t expect it, so it came as quite a pleasant surprise.

Is “Multicultural Weekend” the same thing as “Celebration Weekend”? I noticed an announcement in the WUSTL “Record” (the university’s online newsletter) last week asking WUSTL employees to volunteer to serve as “greeters” on Thursday, April 16 for student arriving at the airport for “Celebration Weekend.” Here is the link:

[Record: Volunteer to greet prospective students](The Record - The Source - Washington University in St. Louis)

I heard WUSTL usually has a weekend event sometime April to which ALL admitted incoming freshmen are invited to attend, and I assumed that’s what “Celebration Weekend” was. However, we haven’t received any communication about it yet and (aside from the article in the Record) I can’t find anything on the web site.

Dorsey- Celebration weekend is multicultural weekend.

There’s no weekend for all admits to come (there simply isn’t space/ enough student volunteers to host a couple thousand pre-frosh), but there are things like the engineering students weekend, etc.

I’ll bump this thread since the invites should be coming in soon.

hmm, I wonder where these invites are?

ditto. will not getting a multicultural weekend invite + being colombian = rejected?

I asked this question on the WUSTL Facebook group a a current undergrad responded to me…she said that they are indeed having the weekend (April 16-19th or something, they’ve been planning a lot for it this semester) and she thinks that I will get an invite with the next week or two…she said when she got the invite it was not much in advance, so we shouldn’t be worried. Good luck to all! :D!

Okay guys, I called the admissions office and they said we should get them anywhere from the 10th to the 15th. So… 2-7 more days? I’m dying here… >_<

I didn’t put my race on my app, my my name is very obviously not caucasian, would that eliminate me from the multiculutral invites? I didn’t think being Asian would ever be an advantage in college application

A lot of Asians were invited to past multicultural weekends. I suggest you just wait and see what happen in the next few days.

So if I am an Asian international student who lives in the U.S. do I have a chance at this too? I am just dying to find out about all the decisions! Glad I’m not the only one stressing out here though. :)

I would say the invites go out to anyone that has “international” or particular cultural experience (be that visiting or living in another country or being an involved member in an ethnic group – Asian, Native American, African (American), etc.). They just want to have a celebration of diversity and different perspectives I suppose!

Thanks, dpattzlover!

According to previous years’ patterns, the invite should be coming this week, right?

Lawlz; I am so over CC, it just gets me hyped, but gives no results ;).

I’m an admitted RD student. I got an email today, telling me to keep my eyes out for something in the mail called an “April Welcome” invitation. I assume that since I’m Asian-American, that it pertains to the Multicultural Weekend.

Oh, bulldoghopeful, you’ve given me hope! Then again, with you’re stats, maybe not…
