Multiple acceptees

To those of you who have been accepted to multiple colleges,

Hi, my daughter has been waitlisted at Emory and this school is her first choice school. And with the deadline for deposit/decision approaching quickly, I sincerely ask all those students who have been accepted to multiple colleges to send their deposits in as soon as possible or to notify the admissions office that you will not be attending. I would really appreciate for your help. Hopefully, my daughter will get off the waiting list. Sincere regards to all.

I have been waitlisted at Emory too and also my only choice. Please help. Best regards to all too.

I'm in the same boat. Best of luck to everyone else on the waitlist.

i guess everyone hates me now for my "remarks." however, i wish you all the best of luck. i hope you all get in to colleges of your choices, in this case Emory.

Okay, just freed one up this morning. Sorry we didn't think about this earlier (but truthfully I was hoping to win PowerBall last night ;)). I wish Emory had offered my son a full ride because it was his first choice of the schools that accepted him (with Rhodes actually being a closer than you might think second). Life goes on.

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but isn't it the case that highly regarded schools will accept more than they have room for knowing that a good percentage of those students will actually go elsewhere? At what point do applicants start coming off the wait list?

I wish the best for those currently on the wait list and hope that something good happens for you with respect to Emory. Our son was disappointed with his only rejection because it was to Rice, his "dream school." :( I can imagine how much worse it would be to be on a wait list for a school you really want to (and can afford to) attend.

There is now another opening. I just cant swing the money. I am really depressed because I really wanted to go but I am forced to go to UGA without the Honors program. life sucks.

There is also another spot, Emory's financial aid is not what it's made out to be

How do you guys know about openings? Did they call you?

I think what they mean is that they have been accepted to numerous colleges, including Emory, but decided to attend another school other than Emory.(?)

Do you all think that the notification of acceptance/rejection from the waiting list will be soon, instead of late May?

I am sorry but Emory takes (all other colleges as well) more students than ideal number of freshmen, which is around 1,200 based on the yield rates from prvious years. Emory usually accepts 4,000 kids from RD round and only 800 kids are attending Emory. (400 from ED). Last year, only 15 kids from the waitlist (out of 1,000) actually got in.

Reference: Common data set.

Who knows? This waitlist case changes significantly from year to year. One year they can take up to a hundred waitlisted students and the next year none. Hopefully, Emory will have many spots for my daughter and those students who are in the same situation.
