Multiple applicants from same school...

If you remember back from high school, sometimes your chances of admission to a top tier school were greatly diminished by the fact that many other students from your high school were applying to that same college. does this apply to transfers also? I go to university of delaware, a huge institution, and myself and one other person I know of are applying as transfers to georgetown. we aren't applying to the same colleges in georgetown though....thoughts????

i do know some big universities have community college's in sight as they feel some colleges have provided their school with good transfers. at usc where im applying usc has el camino comm. college as their number one source for transfer students, cerritos college is another one as well which is where im attending.

I am not sure that is the case for Georgetown: I believe we admitted something like 20 or so students from GW.

so is it safe to say that georgetown university could certainly admit 2 transfer students from the university of delaware? we are a huge school....and the two of us are applying to different programs...

It shouldn't make a difference.

you mean it shouldn't diminish my chances of getting in if another student from my college also applies? i'm not sure i understand your response

...does it really matter if Georgetown does care about the number applying from each school? Will that factor stop you from applying?

Just apply and see what happens. You can't change anything about how Georgetown' admits students, so don't let it affect your decision.

It shouldn't affect your decision in any way.

I suppose not, but it's just a matter of curiosity for me...

No, nothing like High school.

I believe that they basically make categories and split you up into rankings, like 1st tier school-2nd tier-3rd etc. This is why E.C.s help separate you from the rest.

projectx...what i meant was...I'm curious if two kids applying from u.del to georgetown will diminish each other's chances of admission to georgetown because they may have some kind of unwritten quota on accepting multiple transfers from the same college...??/

No,no, no, no, no

Won't affect your chance at all.

Ok- I hoped it wouldn't have. Many thanks to all.
