I’ll be testing for the Mathematics Level 2 subject test this coming Saturday. Seeing as how sometimes my graphing calculator can take a while to finish drawing the graph, having two calculators handy would be useful.
Do proctors allow you to have 2 calculators in hand (one for graphing and the other for computation)?
Have you recharged/replaced your batteries?
Check the scale of your graphs. If your xscl or yscl is, say, one and your window goes from 0 to 1,000,000 it’s going to take some time to graph.
My guess, though you’ll want to check in guidance, is that you can have two calculator, but probably not at the same time. In other words, your second may have to be a backup in case the first fails.
But check in guidance.
Thanks for your advice,
I don’t think it’s question of whether I’m using the calculator most efficiently.
Sometimes, there’ll be 3 or 4 questions in a row which call for a calculator. In this case, while I’m waiting 3-4 seconds for the graph to animate, it can be handy to move onto the next question.
Sorry, what does that mean?
Two ideas (in addition to @bjkmom excellent suggestions about checking your calculator)
- Check directly with College Board.
- Bring two calculators and ask your proctor in advance of staring the exam if you can use both. Be prepared to choose one if necessary.
I’ll go with option #2, since I haven’t been able to find the info online.
I always just use the automatic ‘standard viewing window’ which calculates depending on the size of the graph. So it’s not as if I’m reusing a terrible x-scl and y-scl the whole time.
Thanks for the advice.
Multiple calculations are in fact NOT allowed.
Post can be closed, thank you!
I still believe you can have two, and switch if, say, the first one dies.
Concurrently, as the OP proposed, no, they are not allowed
Correct. From the College Board (emphasis mine):

Doesn’t work that way. Mods can close threads, not general users.
