I am applying to Chicago EA, MIT EA, and Columbia ED. Will MIT adcoms see that I've applied to Chicago, and more importantly, Columbia early, which is an ED school? Will this negatively affect me in admissions because it may show that MIT is not my first choice? Obviously I would rather just apply to CU ED if applying to MIT and Chicago will jeapordize my chances at all 3, but I hope not. I like having backups in the early round.

but also realize that doing more schools EA/ED means that you won't be able to put as much effort into each application. my thought has always been that if you're good enough for EA/ED, then you're good enough for RD. one great application is better than 3 decent ones, no?

^ Unless, of course, you're applying to 10 schools, so three at a time is actually not much at all! ;D

I myself applied to Chicago and MIT early and was accepted to both, so apparently multiple apps doesn't affect admissions there. As for Columbia ED, are you even allowed to apply anywhere else early? If you are, I would say go for it - most schools understand that they aren't the only institution in the world (coughwashucoughtuftscough).
