I was recently admitted to a university that I applied with the Early Action status; however, when I was admitted, they stated that I would have to make a deposit within 10 days or else I would lose my spot; therefore, I submitted the deposit. My problem is that now I am applying Regular Decision to multiple colleges and the common app review and submit section warned me that I cannot submit multiple deposits. But what if I receive an admission for I school that I am more interested in attending? Can I send multiple deposits before may 1st, when I would make my final decision?
Were you accepted EA or ED? That short deposit deadline indicates it may be ED and that decision is binding. What college is that?
Was the deposit for housing?
If you get into a RD school you prefer then you can withdraw from the EA school (preferably in writing) and then it is fine to go ahead and put deposit at a RD school. That way you will only have one accepted offer at a time. Note that you will lose your deposit to the EA school. (As noted above if your acceptance is to an ED rather than an EA school then you are obliged to attend if affordable and should withdraw all RD applications.)
Thank You. I found out it wasn’t EA, it was actually rolling admissions.
@Oregon2016 no, it was an enrollment deposit, but it’s refundable until may 1st, so I thought it was ok to make multiple deposits.
Yes, in that circumstance you just notify school 1 you are not coming and deposit at school 2.
