Both my parents, grandfather and uncle went to Amherst. I was wondering if anyone knew how much Amherst considered a member of a multiple generation family and how much that would boost my application.

Thanks!

If you apply ED it generally counts more than if you apply RD. That said, it sure doesn't hurt! However, if your stats (GPA, SAT, class rank) are not competitive, it won't have as great of an effect.

It actually doesn't matter if a legacy applies ED or RD (the dean said so). But, you do have an advantage as a legacy, especially at Amherst because it is such a small school. However, to get this advantage, you have to be a qualified applicant to begin with. Only then will the fact that you are a legacy play in.
