Multiple Generations of College Graduates..

I know being a first generation high school graduate or college student boosts your chances of getting into some colleges. Does coming from a somewhat long line of college graduates do the same? I have been doing some historical research and have discovered that I will be in the 6th generation of my family to attend college. (Not sure how to word that...Basically my great-great grandfather & every generation since then has attended and graduated from college.) I haven't done any research higher than my great-great grandfather so it could possibly be even higher. I am from the South so education, especially college, wasn't considered as important as it was/is in the North. Do you think this would give me any sort of advantage or is it just a random fact that shouldn't be mentioned?

The latter.

It might be a bump at institutions your parents attended. Check the common data set, section C7, to find out.

At least you don’t have my situation. I’m from a family of 2 generations of college dropout

Agree with Erin’s Dad. Although my D found that her great grandfather had attended one of the small LACs where she applied, and my mom had a 1918 book from the college he had received (sort of like a yearbook, but published when the long time college president retired). She was able to tie that family link and the book into her visit to campus and interest in the school. She got in… did not choose to attend, although she and I both have a great fondness for that school, and her essay on the topic was very sincere.
