Multiple Interviews

A boy at my school said that he had one interview with Harvard thus far and they've contacted him wanting to set up two more interviews. Is this possible? Does it happen often?

Any1? He handed in his application for RD in August. Does it mean he has an edge on the admissions or they just need more info.?

If I was guessing I would say he's kidding with you. First of all why would you turn in your application for RD in August. You could receive a lot more honors by the time December rolls around and most EA applicants just started looking at their applications in August. As for multiple interviews, it's possible, but with thousands of extremely qualified applicants, Harvard's not going to waste hours and hours on one student. Besides this is the time crunch for EA interviews.

They wanted to set up two interviews at once? I guess they already know one would not be enough. Could this boy be a liar? Is that why he needs to be interviewed several times, to catch him contradicting himself?

Setting up two interviews at ONCE is a lie. Sometimes one interviewer may not provide a detailed report of an applicant and another interview may be necessary.

Myabe your friend omiited details of the interview. Two interviews are possible but they are different in nature:

Interview with the admission officer while visiting Harvrad during campus visit in fall.

Second interview with the Alumni interview which is the official interview.

But setting two interviews at ONCE does not make sense unless as xjayz stated.

i agree....a lie or an embellishment of the truth.

i agree....a lie or an embellishment of the truth

My guess is that he's lying all around. Heck, he may not have even applied to Harvard at all. He's probably getting a big kick out of watching you have anxiety attacks over his prevarications.

In my area, we don't even start interviewing RD applicants until about Jan. Indeed, we only get the names of EA applicants in the fall. From what I can figure out, during the fall, the admissions officers are busy doing high school visits and then working on the thousands of EA applicants that have to get decisions before mid Dec. I truly doubt that the admissions officers are working at all with RD applications now.

ohhh.... yah... i have never heard of two simultaneous interviews.....

Haha. Thanks for the comments. Well yes he did have an interview already even though he's applying RD. And the two interviews is odd. The only thing to do is worry about myself and not think about others.

Hmmm, two simultaneous interviews as said before could as said before have one pertain to an alumni interview and the other perhaps for financial aid or something of that sort. Also, it is possible to be contacted for a second alumni interview, though I can't provide proof that you can have two simulatenous interviews.
