Multiple master's degrees in the same field?

What do you think about working towards multiple master's degrees in the same field of engineering, but from different universities?

Example: A person having a masters in computer science from MIT, a masters in computer science from Harvard, and a masters in computer science from Stanford.

Would that be wasted time?

yes it would be very pointless. the reason is that having one masters in one subject from any of those schools is sufficient. you also got to factor in that those schools would require boat loads of money, and you’d lose another 6-10 years to educating yourself. it would be like going to school all your life before starting your career

Why would anyone waste their time, money, and sanity doing that?

This topic was inspired by Ben Bolger, a perpetual student:

He has so many degrees, but a lot of them are in the same fields as other ones.

this guy sounds crazy, your better off getting a job and getting the experience in the field
