Multiple nominations

So far I've recieved 2 nominations, but haven't heard anything more than that. Anybody else get 2? Did you get an appointment? I would assume 2 nominations would really help my chances, but I know it's not a guaranteed appointment.

2 are certainly better than 1, and 1 is better than none, and while you definately need a nomination to get an appointment, not all who get nominated get one of those- just so many seats to fill. But there are 2 MOC that obviously think you are academy material, and that definately says something!

So congratulations! 2 nominations are something to be very proud of, and hopefully your appointment letter will come soon!

i got two noms to west point and got put on the national waiting list- nothing so far. i got one to navy and got my appointment in november. congrats on the noms!

I got 2 noms. One of them is the NROTC nomination and the other is from my congressman, which puts me in two different selection pools. I read around 20 candidates will get appointments through NROTC nominations, which are seperate from the congressional nom. pool.

i received 2 nominations as well (they came 2 days apart), one congressional and one senatorial. i don't think it really matters, but i was wondering if they automatically retract one for some other qualified individual. i hope so, b/c i would hate the thought that i am denying someone their dream

Most due, especially scince they have a back up list of alternates, i was offered two senatorial nominations, but upon being informed by NA that i had a presidential and an appointment, they said, good job, keep it up, but were given the two to someone else scince your already in.

Yeah, I got two to the Naval Academy, two to West Point, and one to the Air Force Academy. I was informed that they don't take away nominations, but my second Senator found out I had one from the other Senator so automatically took me off his list. Other than that you can get two and be put into multiple qualification rounds instead of just one.

I have two, one Senate, one House. Nothing else yet.

On the applications, I put usma as my first choice...and usna my second. I received three noms to usma and one senatorial nom to usna. Although I would have liked a back nomination for usna, I am pretty content and really don't see how having more than one helps....in fact wp accepted me before I reveived the last two. I think MOC's should nominate once, possibly twice. ARggg, I am upset thinking all the kids who would do anything for a nomination while I am sitting here with four in total...two of which mean have no bearing on anything.

I was only trying to gauge if the academy factors in that I had recieved 2 nominations, and give more consideration. I guess I'll just have to wait to hear back. Anybody know how long it usually takes from recieving a nomination until hearing whether or not I recieved an appointment? It's been about 3 or 4 weeks since my first nomination and a week since my second.

My son received two nominations (one from Senator, one from our local Representative) just before Christmas but has not heard anything. He had previously been found triple qualified but still no word. I don't know if the Academy re-evaluates your file once you have received a nomination - it does not appear that way to me.

My son has two to AFA, one to USNA and we believe two to USMA -- moc nom was recently listed on s website but he has not received call/letter either way yet -- typo? Hope not!) Other than that, nothing.

I have 2 to USNA. Hopefully it helps

Wow...i feel so inferior for only having one nomination now seeing that everyone here has two or three. Only problem is at least one of my senator waits to see if you have a nomination from another source and if you do, automatically get removed from competition (their idea is to get as many people available for an appointment which i guess is a good thing).

Indeed one is better than none. Without a nomination, nothing you can really do...

Oh well.

Congrads to all the well deserving people with multiple, you must really deserve it!

Our congressman/senator also wouldn't give two. Possibly there are more that one given if no comunication between senators and congressman. In Jake's case, they had communication between them.

It would stand to reason that in very competetive areas/states the MOC stretch their spots as far as possible- (assuming they are all on speaking terms, which I will assume they are)- we have heard there are some areas/states that don't even get enough applicants to even fill the MOC slates available! Our BGO told us, for example, that while the USNA is highly competetive on the east/west coasts, in the middle states the interest level is much lower- and while this is contrary to what we have read/heard, etc, I thought I understood the suggestion that there is even some shuffling of noms going around as a result- who's to say! In the end, you only need one~!

Mine has two noms--one from each senator, but have heard nothing yet from our congressman. We know a boy who did not get in a couple of years ago and he had a senatorial nom and the nom from his congressman. It just makes me wonder how this all works. You can't assume anything.

this was posted a while ago, but might be worth repeating. Over 3500 noms are given out- offers of appointment number 1450 (approx) - to fill 1240 (approx) seats.

Unfortunately, none of the kids without noms will get offers.
Even more regretably, lots of kids with noms will still not get offers.

"one of the lucky few of the deserving many." ~torpedo, Dec 2004

In other words: "Many are deserving, but only a few are lucky" ????

I don't think the Navy operates on luck...

The last I heard the Navy only selected "the Best of the BEST"...

When you have over 3500 highly qualified kids with nominations, and only 1450 offers of appointments....
Sorry MamaS, but I agree there is definitely some luck involved!
