Multiple questions about macaulay honors college

hi im a senior in high school going to college in the late summer of 2017. I have a few questions for those who have gone to macaulay honors college.

  1. I have an sat score of 1350 (math and reading), A’s on my report cards, community service hours but no extra cirricular. Can i get in or no?
  2. I want to become a doctor or something related in the medical field. Are any of the schools there good for that?
  3. Also, I live in brooklyn, ny. let’s say i go to baruch or hunter, do i still have to dorm?
Thanks, sorry for the terrible grammar im in a rush

My son was enrolled in Macaulay at Baruch.

  1. 1400 is closer to the avg past years, but each campus is a bit different and considered separately. One of the less competitive campuses may work out possibly.
  2. Baruch would be a bad choice for med school, everyone there is a business major. Not good for science. Study Bio, Chem or Bio Engineering, not business !
  3. Try Brooklyn College Campus if you want to live at home. If you got into Hunter, it has included free dorms for 1st 2 years in the past. Why not live in free dorms close to campus instead of a long commute from Brooklyn ? No free dorms at other campuses. Hunter is among the most competitive due to the free dorm.

Most of this info is out there, go to collegedata.com for latest stats on Brooklyn College and Hunter College,
and dorming at Hunter, if still provided as it was in the past.

Nice to get a scholarship, but note that most kids at CUNY get Pell Grant and TAP from NYS and end
up paying no tuition as a result anyway. Macaulay gives some nice perks in addition. If you really want to
stay in NYC, Macaulay is a great option.
