the "for transfers" part of the title was a little decieving lol, but i wanted to catch a little attention to get answers.

THIS IS A MULTIPURPOSE THREAD lol so it would help if you could answer or give your input to any of the questions im about to ask.

1SAN DIEGANS: im willing to commute to any college in san diego for a gpa booster this semester, because I have already exceeded the number of units im allowed to take at miracosta. Ill probably take a personal growth class/counseling because I think that would be the easiest, but if you know of any really easy easy easy classes, please let me know the course and the teacher; thanks!

2 anyone majoring in sociology and planning on going to ucla? If so, have you finished all the pre-reqs? Most schools do not offer the class that is equivalent to uclas soc 20.

3 CHANCE ME!

Major: Sociology
GPA:3.73-3.75 by the end of winter session
IGETC: wont be finished until spring
Activites- Student Ambassador, Work, Community Service.

My major concern is that my major is impacted and there will be major cuts in the budget. The average admit for fall 2009 was a 3.72, which is cutting way too close for me to feel ok.I would feel much safer with anything above a 3.8, but I got a C that really effed over my gpa. So Id like to know if you think that it is doable. Also, im taking the sociological stats class rather than the mathematical stats class; It accepted as a pre-req at ucla for stats, but I dont know if its frowned upon that is isnt an actual stats class (which is considered to be more practical and hard lol). At Berkeley it is frowned upon and isnt even accepted as a pre-req.

4 How do you double major?

PLEASE FEEL FREE TO ADD ANY INPUT OR ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS!

EDIT: Nevermind, just saw it - you should pretty much have as good a chance as any. You should seal the deal by writing an awesome essay though.

my gf’s had near perfect (4.0 but with minimal EC’s) and she was rejected from ucla for soc (though she was accepted to berkeley). For soc at ucla it’s so impacted you have to have something like TAP to make you even competitive.

i think your gf was probably missing the pre-req.what cc did you gf go to? there are people on this board that we admitted with 3.8 and 3.7,…and the average admit being a 3.72, your gf must have been missing something, no disrespect to her of course

heh: i will be writing my essays in august…they need to be perfect from where im at right now lol

3.8 GPA
I had all my pre-reqs done, actually did Soc. 20 online at College of the Canyons, there are no in class meetings reguired and it was super easy.

i went to Grossmont, and preffered it out of all the CCs in San diego area. I also went to mesa, city, miramar, cuyamaca, and miracosta. … i took online courses often.

Mesa! If you’re looking for the easiest classes, I would say Southwestern. By far the easiest CC in San Diego.

You don’t need Sociology 20 to transfer to UCLA under sociology. It is a pre req and of course it would make your application more competitive, but “the Sociology Department requires that you complete all major preparation courses except Sociology 20 prior to transfer.” I mean I would recommend you take the course (if you can’t find any, online?), but if there’s nothing you can do at all, then no need to sweat it.
