<p>Elite Colleges’ definition of “diversity” isn’t strictly limited to students who fulfill the criteria of URM. Any academically strong applicant who presents with an intriguing background and/or history, and who can express how those factors might contribute to the vibrancy of that university’s community will probably receive very careful consideration. You don’t need URM status in order to have an edge over the average applicant. And URM status alone certainly won’t guarantee you a fat envelope.</p>
