Multivariable Calculus

I finished Calculus BC independently this year from my high school and was wondering if any of you know any good multivariable calculus courses?

I checked my community college and they only had up to Calc II. And EPGY is out of my price range. Do any of you know a cheap way that I can take this course?

THANKS!

If you live near Harvard, you can take MV Calc at the Extension School.

The community college only goes up to calc II? That's disappointing. um, so there's only one college nearby? If you can, trying to go to a nearby university seems like your only good choice (i wouldn't want to do independent study calc III). So does it not cost you anything to go to the community college if you don't wanna do epgy?

Yeah, it only goes up to Calc II. And I'm poor, so no EPGY :(. Is it possible to independent study multi-var calc?

yes! i was working on it last summer. It's tough, so use lots of references, but certainly possible.

Have you thought about UT-Austin distance courses?

Yeah I saw their courses. However, is there any way I could get it cheaper?

oooh! This is an issue that I am having as well... I hope someone can provide some direction.

I'm the only one at my school who is on an accelerated math program (I have "Independent Study Math" on my schedule and am supposed to find myself a multivariable calc course online...)
But, another school nearby mine has many students who took Calc BC as juniors. I've asked them and most of them use EPGY.
one student inquired a harvard professor, from whom he received a vague syllabus and a textbook title. He purchased the textbook and is self-studying.
I don't think I'd be able to do the above, so I'm still looking for other options.

If you school is willing to pay for EPGY, it is much cheaper than signing on individually. Look up MIT Open Courseware also. It's free.

Yup, looked at MIT opencourseware. However, I would not get any official credit for completing that so I could show the schools I'm applying to, and there were no tests or homework online.

Would your school be willing to provide a tutor if you took a course online and did the homework? The text that is used is probably Stewart. The tutor would assign the homework and correct it. One of my S's classmates learned advanced math that way. The tutor met once a week to go over old homework and assign new one.

It might be worthwhile to audit the course at any local college that offers it. Usually they will let you attend for free without getting credit. You don't need credit though because you can explain on your application, and if you go to Harvard, there will be a placement test so you will still be able to get out of Multivariable if you wish.

wait, doesn't EPGY have financial aid though?

epgy has financial aid. i sent in the form and paid only $200 for a class that originally costed $700.

Not to be nosy be any means, but how much does your family make so I can know how much to expect.
