Mun

I wish I had AIM

We're doing JHUMUNC committee/country assignments on Wednesday.

I just got back from my third NAIMUN (aka Georgetown) and have been an MUNer for four years. Sorry to bring this back up, but MUN really is dominated by Prep schools. Especially the bigger ocnferences. I go to a wealthy public school, and even I feel like my club is somewhat out of place.

^ Unless you individually can measure up to prep school kids. THe competition is fun, oh yes.

THIMUN

can't beat that ;)

Is that in the Hague? If so, that would be amazing.

I'm going to the Johns Hopkins conference in two weeks.. MUST PWN.

beans - I go to WWP North. I don't think our schools go to any of the same conferences... South goes to NAIMUN, though. How was it?

I'm almost definitely going to JHUMUNC. Our countries are Iran, Israel, and Nigeria. My first three choices were, in order, CCPCJ, WHO, and CSW, Nigeria for each. Anyone else in any of these committees? I think I should be able to get into CCPCJ, but I'm only a junior and we go by seniority...

theoneo: I'm Japan on UNDP. We should meet up.

AHHHHHHH I WANTED TO BE IN UNDP SOOO BADLY!!!

...but none of our nations are in it!

I think there are more CCers from this thread who are going to JHUMUNC. We should all meet up somewhere haha. We'll be like "Hi... I'm theoneo.... Hi... I'm savoirfaire..............."

Weird.

THIMUN I heard was just a huge orgy of hooking-up and making-out, according to my friend who went this year. She said she never saw that many people kiss at in the same room simultaneously. I guess that's what you get when you put a bunch of teenagers in the same room.

So Model UN is popular in the US too? It's pretty popular among the politically-inclined students here in SE Asia. Doesn't it get a little too competitive sometimes? People too often lose track of what the "greater good" in order to make that stuck-up delegate of Tunisia look bad in front of the GA, for example.

I heard UC Berkeley is pretty good conference from veterans. I'm pretty new to MUN; only went to one conference so far. Our MUN club has no money whatsoever, and since we are a school for low-income students, there is no family contribution [all fundraising].. so our major conference is going to be UCI. And no, MUN is not for only wealthy, private-schooled students. However, it does cost quite a bit of money to go to the higher-end conferences.
It's a lot of fun though, and would recommend joining or starting an MUN club or whatever.

Haha I guess you could say that. Remember its not only teens in the same room, its teams that aren't from holland in holland. That just equates to madness. A girl from my school bought a whole bunch of dominatrix sort of stuff and put them in her carry on, then at the paris airport they saw the handcuffs, whips, etc. and confiscated them. hahaha I wouldn't have changed that moment for anything.

And dude, theoneo, don't do WHO... way too many delegations. You'll probably get to speak once, if you're lucky.

I'm just a junior so I don't get first dibs... And our countries limit our committee options... WHO > GA.

Is anyone in JHUMUNC in the WHO, UNCHR, CSW, SPECPOL, DISEC, SOCHUM, LEGAL, OR EU? My school's in those committees. We're Ireland, Israel, and Nigeria.

I'm in CCPCJ btw.

Mannn, if your school had UNDP, you could give me tips on whom to watch out for. Darnit.

Did I mention that I wanted to be in UNDP SOOOOOOOOOOOO badly?

Btw if my school were doing UNDP, you'd have to watch out for me.

Haha, I'll keep that in mind.. for future conferences, that is.

Haha I go to a DoDDs school on and Air Force base in Germany and have a bunch of friends in MUN and, at my school anyways, MUN is full of all the debaters that love to party. I've heard so many racy stories from THIMUN and whatever the one in Russia is called. A whole lot of sleeping around and Russian vodka.
Actually, the same things happened when my school held a conference these past two springs and a bunch of Russians, Ukranians, and Norwegians came.

Mundy, mundy...doo doo my mundy too. Be so true. Mundo, mundoo doo
