Mun

Someone at my high school just started a MUN chapter here! :) Their first meeting is on Friday and I've heard so much about it on CC and it sounds really cool so I'm gonna go check it out and see if I like it! I'm kinda considering international/foreign affairs as a career and I'm in debate and one of my friends told me that MUN wants debate people? Iunno, I'm just excited to try it out.

i won a outstanding delegate award at the bmun conference but i didnt put which conference on my college apps, is that ok? (i just wrote oustanding delegate award (2005)

is anyone going to una-usa in new york this may?

BMUN as in.. Boston or Brown?

berkeley mun

for future reference. brown is busun...i went/

And Boston is BosMUN.... I went. :P

How do you prepare for MUN conferences? Even during conferences, how can you work so that judges see you as worthy of an award?

Where's everyone going this year?

My school's going to VAMUN, BosMUN, and JHUMUNC. I'm probably just going to BosMUN.

VAMUN-last year I went loved it-won my first award but I am not going this year-so sad.

my school does this weird thing called interim week-week off of school for some hands on learning and the week we have off is the same week as the MUN of Munich, Germany so for a week a delegation from our school is going to go. I am so psyched about it! I hope I get in and have enough money for it. I don't think that conference though offers awards to delegates but I don't care it is going to be so much fun!!

I know for sure I am going to go to Northwestern MUN and I am going to try for the Harvard MUN it all depends on money. I saved up 4000 dollars from work over the summer though.

How was the competition at VAMUN? Which committee were you in, how big was it, and can you compare it to any other conferences? It's the first time my club's going there. :</p>

VAMUN from my personal experience was not the largest MUN I have ever been-I guess around 300-500 students. The committees are not that big-not even the general committes were huge.
I was in the Nuclear Non_Proliferation Treaty Review Conference which was around 60-80 students.

Competition wise I would say it is somewhat tough because most of thr kids there are from the Virginia Public School system-one of the best in the nation so they know what they were doing.

I think a lot of emphasis was on the writing-for my commitee I had to write three position papers.

I really enjoyed it and I hope this helps-PM me if you want more info!

Thanks for the info. For now, though, I don't think I'll go just because it's first semester of senior year and I have a lot of stuff to deal with.
